I’m actually in awe of how well they handled this choice because each one of them has fantastic ironclad reasons why. I chose Lotus because I viewed her as wanting to “reclaim” that role for herself. She isn’t Margulis, she isn’t Natah anymore, she is the Lotus who protects and stabilizes the Origin system.
This was my thought process exactly. That’s her role, and she’s reclaiming it now. It helps that the appearance that she chose immediately after killing Ballas was her new Radiant Lotus skin, giving the perfect embodiment of her new, reclaimed identity.
I tried putting up SearX and NextCloud, without really having used any equivalent cloud services in the past… but eventually both came unstuck, because:
SearX ended up getting blocked by basically every search engine, even though it was a private instance and only I was using it. And even while it worked, the results were not much better than using some other engine like Brave Search or even Startpage. Also, being the only user on that IP, meant that I was still able to be tracked by Google and filter bubbles started being an issue.
NextCloud - just wasn’t a need for it. I initially used the RSS reader and email and a few other things, but I already have a good desktop email client and RSS reader and preferred to use them, and other services I just wasn’t that interested in. No point putting in the effort maintaining it if I’m not using it.
These were personal instances though. Maybe might have been more successful if I’d had a userbase to serve, who actually were interested in having things web-based and were not so concerned about the inevitable loss in performance compared to desktop apps.
There’s this french MMO i played as a kid called Dofus and that soundtrack still hits hard when I listen. I think part of it is nostalgia but also its just so beautiful
We’ve evolved to spend more energy on our brain and intelligence. Animals can have better immune systems, plus they’ll build up a resistance to the pathogens.
People who constantly drink dirty water will also develop resistance
I don’t get reviews for movies/show. Makes no sense to me. If I’ve not watched the movie/show, I don’t wanna get spoiled and/or influenced by some random stranger who thinks the movie is either bad or good.
I want to see the movie/show on my own and then decide if its good or not. And after that, why do I need to read reviews? I already saw the movie/show and I know if I liked it or not. No reason to read a review of it.
For me it feels more like, many people need others to tell them if they should like a movie/show or not.
I totally get video game reviews because they are expensive and usually a much higher time investment compared to a movie or “tv” show.
And that’s why my rule is: if it doesn’t container it doesn’t go on my server. If I can’t get the application crammed into my docker compose stack I look for an alternative. Hell I run PiHole and Octoprint inside container
I prefer physical books for the most part but I have a hard time justifying their cost when I own an ereader.
I like listening to audiobooks when I’m out and about but I find I’ll occasionally miss the odd sentence when I get distracted or forget to pause when I take my headphones off which leads to me skipping around trying to find where I was at.
