One of the hurdles to change for users switching from reddit to a federated platform is less content. The logic goes: “smaller community, less content, I can see i’m missing out on stuff over there so I’m not going to switch away”....
I'm missing something....
This thread is where all the takes from idiots (looking at you Armchair Warlord) and screenshots of twitter posts/youtube thumbnails go.
The roll over worry because of hybrid is not an excuse. There are electric hybrids.
This is honestly probably for the best. It’s a really bad idea that we’ve let reddit monopolize niche knowledge
I think apps become really relevant in the federated world, as it allows to manage multiple accounts at the same time, in the same place, allowing for quick switching, etc, while simplifying so much workflow (and making server requests lighter too!)....
I would like to find a list of lemmy communities to find similar to the ones i left behind on reddit...
I just fall on this and didn't know you can't remove stuff from lemmy....
I’m currently using Klipper, and it’s fine, I suppose, but I miss the ability to cycle through the previous clips with simple keypresses, like in the emacs killring (the only thing I miss from my very brief experimentation with emacs back in the day).
Facebook used to be such an awesome platform. At least until all the ads and boomers....
It seems extremely unsafe to use one with an insecure grip

It also allows you to test out each one of those...
I want to be clear on my bias here: I firmly believe that open source would not be a ‘thing’ if it weren’t for Red Hat. Linus Torvalds himself once said (albeit 10 years ago) that the shares he received from Red Hat before their IPO was ‘his only big Linux payout’. I don’t think anyone would disagree with the...
I'm a lemmon you're a lemmon we're all lemmons.
I tried to like Invidious, I really did but it’s just awful. it’s basically painful to use as it is now. I’ve tried to play around with various combinations of settings and browsers and cant find any combination where the video doesnt either:...
Spent 20 minutes trying to find a thread that fit what I wanted but everyone seems to be willing to watch all of Star Trek. I tried TOS and while it’s not bad I don’t want to watch every single episode of Star Trek to get into the show…...
A great use for reddit is the ability to search posts and opinions about any niche topic. Will that be possible with Lemmy as it grows? Will I be able to Google “instant rice Lemmy” and get a comprehensive tier list of each brand?...
How much would it cost to put someone to sleep on a submersible not rated for immediate-pink-mist depths?
Two years ago I’ve tried my hand at cracking something, it’s quite an unknown game, Arena Wars was the name. I always found it fun to take it for a spin, try out a match or two, then forget about it for a couple months....
