How much control/access does my instance owner haver over my account?
I noticed that there were some accounts that were hijacked by the instance owners. All the posts from that user were then edited to say what happened....

Not sure what others are doing to use Ubuntu (23.04) without snaps, but this is what I am doing:...

So, I’m new to the fediverse and Lemmy, and I’m still trying to wrap my brain around it all. I’m sure people have talked about this, but by far my biggest issue so far has been finding communities. I specifically didn’t want t to join a large instance, but that has led to issues of finding communities. I often need to go...
Image is a popular four-panel meme featuring Gru from “Despicable Me” showing off his evil plan on a large pad. In this version Gru is wearing a lapel pin of the Lemmy.world logo. Frame one: the pad says “The Fediverse is taking social media back from corporate control and proprietary walled gardens.” Gru looks proud....
I have a meme account on Instagram, which I’d like to also have on the Fediverse. Can anyone recommend me a Pixelfed instance for this? Or maybe another type of server?

Edit: Thank you guys for your insightful answers!
