I just use Linux Mint :)

I don’t like Windows either, but my experience with 11 was not as bad. I ran it on now dead 16 year old laptop (Compal FL90). It worked better than Windows 10, although it’s possible that it was old enough to not support some background services. I also disabled BITS and SuperFetch which gave it a huge boost.

But compared to Linux Mint 20.3, Windows 8.1 or the officially supported Windows XP, that was a snail.

user224 , to piracy in I found this guide for downloading Wii U games, but it relies on a Windows-only tool. Is there a Linux alternative?

I know. I just wanted to mention that because AUR doesn’t feel like downloading random stuff from internet when you’re using it with something like yay.

user224 , to technology in Can anyone recommend me a setup to virtualize Linux under Windows that runs smoothly?

In VirtualBox, did you turn on 3D acceleration and turned up the video memory? Just an idea. Also VirtualBox 7.0 has issues with graphics currently, maybe you could try 6.1. Also make sure there’s enough RAM.

Maybe there’s some carriers that also charge for incoming calls, at least in Roaming.

Yep, but it can happen again. There may already be something undiscovered.

Remember to be careful with AUR. There’s already been malicious code introduced via AUR after someone picked up orphaned PDF viewer as maintainer.

user224 , to piracy in Android Ad Blocker

I’d recommend NextDNS, although I haven’t tried the AdGuard DNS. You can choose from many blocklists, add stuff to Denylist or Allowlist (which I had to do for AliExpresss app to work properly), check logs to see what was blocked or allowed, add Rewrites which was useful for lemmy.fmhy.ml and fmhy.ml, and there’s a bunch of other protection options.

You can also test it out for free WITHOUT SIGNUP for 7 days. If you clear your cookies you can get another 7 days over and over without signup.

Is that based on true events?

user224 , to technology in I just wanted to take a minute to appreciate interchangable batteries

The Liitokala charges seem nice. I’ve got Lii-PD4 for €13 on AliExpress. Unfortunately I didn’t have any extra money to spare for one with discharge capacity testing, otherwise I’d get the Lii-500.

Just be careful not to accidentally press a button on it right after inserting the battery, while the percentage is still blinking, otherwise you may happen to accidentally override the charging voltage and e.g. give the battery 4.35V instead of 4.2V. boom.
