Something in your head is broken, and I am still 100% fine with you not wrapping your head around my use of the term… but your stunning lack of awareness regarding the plastic nature of the English language is absolutely a stark contrast against your otherwise seemingly well thought out verbiage defending your position.

Yes, Webster, congrats on understanding the origin of the term, being a portmanteau of “triple” and “perfecta”. 100 points for this. You are docked just as many fake points, however, for not being up to speed on the more recent (colloquial) use case where any collection of 3 things, or ideas even, which are said to be complimentary to each other, are said to be a trifecta.

Nobody gives a fuck about horse racing terms. We do love ways to group like items still however.

ubermeisters ,
@ubermeisters@lemmy.world avatar

I do find it hard to believe that you haven’t heard the term outside of the initial portmanteau, so I suppose you could say i’m trifecting down.

go trifuckyourself if you’re trolling me (i dont think you are, but i couldn’t quickly find another excuse to use the term, apologies)

Israel Knew Hamas’s Attack Plan More Than a Year Ago (www.nytimes.com)

Israeli officials obtained Hamas’s battle plan for the Oct. 7 terrorist attack more than a year before it happened, documents, emails and interviews show. But Israeli military and intelligence officials dismissed the plan as aspirational, considering it too difficult for Hamas to carry out....

ubermeisters ,
@ubermeisters@lemmy.world avatar

web.archive.org/…/israel-hamas-attack-intelligenc…

This is a summary of the article contents:

  • Hamas’s attack plan: The article reveals that Israel had obtained a detailed document of Hamas’s plan to invade Israel from Gaza more than a year before it happened on Oct. 7, 2023. The plan, code-named “Jericho Wall”, described a surprise attack with rockets, drones and gunmen that aimed to overwhelm Israeli defenses and take over military bases and cities.
  • Israel’s intelligence failure: The article shows that Israel dismissed the plan as unrealistic and ignored the warnings from some analysts who noticed Hamas’s preparations and capabilities. Israel also misread Hamas’s intentions and did not take the threat seriously¹[1]. The article compares this failure to the 1973 war and the 9/11 attacks in the United States.
  • The consequences of the attack: The article reports that the attack was the deadliest day in Israel’s history, killing about 1,200 people²[2]. Hamas followed the plan with shocking precision, breaking through the border fence, storming the Re’im base and other targets, and taking hostages³[3]. The article says that the attack was a major blow to Israel’s security and morale, and that the government is expected to form a commission to investigate the events.

I asked CoPilot to summary the page, which really is a good read; I do encourage you to read the full article if the following summary piques your interest. the “undefined paper” listed as reference is the linked article. copilot goes “private” when inquiring about web pages for whatever reason.

This article is an obituary of Henry Kissinger, a former U.S. national security adviser and secretary of state, who died at the age of 100. The article criticizes Kissinger as a war criminal who was responsible for millions of deaths in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Chile, and other countries. The article also argues that Kissinger helped shape the world order that is now collapsing, and that he was never held accountable for his crimes. Some of the main points of the article are:

  • Kissinger sabotaged peace talks in Vietnam: He leaked information to Nixon’s campaign in 1968 to prevent a deal between Johnson and Hanoi, prolonging the war for four more years and killing millions of people.
  • Kissinger orchestrated the coup in Chile: He supported the overthrow of the democratically elected socialist president Salvador Allende in 1973, and backed the brutal dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, who tortured and killed thousands of dissidents and implemented neoliberal policies that harmed the majority of Chileans.
  • Kissinger enabled genocide and repression: He ignored or encouraged the atrocities committed by U.S. allies in Bangladesh, East Timor, Indonesia, Pakistan, and elsewhere, and participated in Operation Condor, a campaign of assassinations of left-wing activists across Latin America.
  • Kissinger expanded U.S. bombing and intervention: He secretly bombed Cambodia and Laos, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians and paving the way for the Khmer Rouge genocide. He also set the precedent for U.S. presidents to bomb countries without congressional or public oversight, as seen in the War on Terror.
  • Kissinger was celebrated by the U.S. elite: He received praise and awards from presidents, politicians, journalists, and academics, who admired his geopolitical strategy and ignored or justified his crimes. He was also an informal adviser to several administrations, including Bush and Obama¹[1].

I’m still in shock that the incel thing has gotten so far. I don’t remember the first time I saw the term, but for the longest time I thought it was just a dumb word for guys who “can’t seem to get any”, or were too depressed to try.

It’s been really intriguing, and equally depressing, watching the word actually start to mean something so tangible, that use of the term in a court room is appropriate at all even.

Yep. I stopped using my local medical center’s app because wouldn’t you know, they sold my info to a fuckload of 4th parties. Spam from the email I setup, 100% for only the account (Firefox relay), evidences the facts directly.

Pretty fucking gross misconduct in my opinion.

Sure didn’t tell us much about the digitization process, are they using new scans, amd what type, if so? Photogrammetry from previously recorded images maybe?

ubermeisters ,
@ubermeisters@lemmy.world avatar

…what??

You want regulation that disallows businesses to use technology that the rest of us have access to? What an odd, small view on the matter.

If you don’t like companies using AI, then boycott thier products. Don’t cry for big government to save you from the walls that you think are closing in around you, because they aren’t.

Cant tell if it’s AI written or not? Then why should it matter?? I can see a legal basis for requiring disclosure however, on an intellectual property basis, as AI content can not be claimed as IP.

yes let me rely on 9to5google.com for the best methods to still allow youtube to still retain revenue on my views. Nice try google

At Meta, Millions of Underage Users Were an ‘Open Secret,’ States Say (www.nytimes.com)

Meta has received more than 1.1 million reports of users under the age of 13 on its Instagram platform since early 2019 yet it “disabled only a fraction” of those accounts, according to a newly unsealed legal complaint against the company brought by the attorneys general of 33 states....

ubermeisters ,

Loads more data and inflated legitimate userbase numbers would bring more ad revenue to the platform. And I bet it has. And whatever they get fined for this, will be paltry in comparison to the amount they made from this.

I fucking absolutely HATE how nobody gives a fuck about this until its YOUR CHILD. There’s tons of cam roulette sites. Go use one of them that still exists and actually does the bare minimum to not show jerkoffs to kids.

I like how everybody’s pretending it was the only website for this, no. It was the only where kids and adults mingled in a fucked up jerkoff dance.
