Because people will pre-order games to the point that it’s made a healthy profit even before it’s even released. Consumers vote with their wallet and for some reason gamers just constantly choose to show publishers that shoddy, half-assed products are good enough for them.

That moment was after Obama’s reelection. The RNC did a big post mortem analysis on the 2012 election and reached the conclusion that they need to appeal to a wider spectrum of voter demographics and stop catering to the more extreme wings of the party. But by that point they had already let the tea party get a foothold and the train was running away towards MAGA with no brakes to be found.

It’s about destroying those who express themselves in ways that authoritarians feel threatened by, and in doing so intimidating others into falling in line.

I mean, details aside, that is a bonkers incredible view.

Ask McCarthy how things work out when you welcome the crazies into the party and assume you can keep them in line.

And yes, I’m fully aware that McCarthy was one of “the crazies” back when the tea party was considered the extreme part of the GOP.

It is bizarre that we made Christmas music as a genre and just decided that the genre needed zero additional songs for the rest of time with the exception of Mariah Carey.

I have never needed to use my programming knowledge to use Linux nor have I had an issue with drivers. Dunno what the hate is for, at least Linux works without changing half the values in the registry to make it tolerable or having an active internet connection (it won’t install the OS without making you create a Microsoft account unless you open a secret command prompt to disable the Internet requirement and lie about not having Internet so they can attach all of the information they collect on you to a profile that enables them to deliver more relevant advertisements directly to your operating system)

superduperenigma ,

You need to open a secret command prompt and type in a command. The person I was replying to is apparently deathly allergic to typing out simple commands in a terminal, so he certainly wouldn’t be able to get around it.

A lot of societies problems would be solved if they taught about forming healthy relationships in school.

Right now there is a loneliness epidemic throughout the world. More and more people aren’t entering relationships. Gen Z men are having significant trouble dating while there are some economic factors in the mix. From my own view and experiences combined with what I’ve read most Gen Z men are lack the social and...

They used to teach these things in school. Then the boomers axed home economics programs in schools to save a little bit of tax money at the expense of future generations, as they are wont to do.

I went to a brewery recently where they swipe your card at the entrance and hand you a little black credit card type thing. You find your own seats, you go grab a glass, and you insert the card into a slot at a beer tap and pour your own beer, priced by the ounce. If you want food, you go to a kiosk, put your card in, and order food. When it’s ready, you go to the kitchen and pick it up to bring back to your seat. When you leave, you bring the card back up to the register and they charge you for all the food and drink. But then it asks you how much you wanna tip. Who the fuck am I tipping? I was my own host, my own bartender, my own waiter, my own bus boy. I haven’t seen an actual employee here except for some woman who swiped my credit card during a 5 second interaction.

I tipped $0

It’s wild to think about just how much of a fucking psycho Robin Williams’ character was in that movie. Pierce Brosnan was by all accounts a pretty great guy who was great towards his kids and ex wife, and he tries to straight up murder him in front of an entire restaurant full of people. Not even a crime of passion or anything like that, he heard the guy had an allergy, snuck into the kitchen, and loaded his dish with a lethal dose of cayenne pepper knowing full well that it would kill him. Sure, he doesn’t let him die in the end, but he walked right up to the line of premeditated murder.

superduperenigma ,

It’s a real thing if the person eating the pepper has a severe allergy to peppers.

Eminem also emulated him in a music video. That’s where the “something’s wrong, I can feel it” meme comes from.

It’s still funny to me that Mike Pence thought he had any chance in hell of getting elected. His party’s base was chanting “hang Mike Pence” after building a gallows outside the building he was in, and his response was “I bet these people would vote for me.”

The whole point of Communism is to balance power away from the 1% and back to the masses

But there needs to be some governing body that is responsible for determining how the power and wealth is distributed. Per the OP’s point: if the proper guardrails are not in place, control of that governing body will eventually shift towards a person or party who corrupts it for their own purposes. It doesn’t matter what the “point” of a system is, corrupt people will always attempt to take the wheel.

superduperenigma ,

No, the current plan is not that “they hopefully just don’t vote.” The plan is to actively prevent them from voting through various forms of suppression. They’re not just sit around waiting to see what happens.

superduperenigma ,

That’s the whole point of their independent state legislature theory. They argue that the state legislature can simply declare their own election results if they don’t like the voters’ results and that nobody, not the executive nor the courts, can challenge them. They are literally arguing that we should dismantle democracy altogether and somehow people are still “bOtH sIdEs”-ing.

A lot of people yearn to be part of something bigger than themselves, something truly glorious, something that can give their life purpose. Some people climb the corporate ladder, others join the military, and some will selflessly dedicate their life to charity. But deep down, all we truly want is to not only see a really, really deep hole at the beach, but to know that we contributed to making such a big, cool hole in the sand.

I have a Chromebook that I put Linux onto. It’s got a Celeron and 4gb ram. It’s fine for web browsing email, etc on the go. It can play a ton of older games just fine, too; half-life 2 and episodes run surprisingly well. Minecraft with sodium and all settings turned down works okay, too.

superduperenigma ,

old.reddit is just the official website with the old layout from before they redesigned their front end ui. It’s part of Reddit’s official website that they kept around because so many people hate the redesign, it’s not a 3rd party and therefore not affected by any pricing policies.
