I legit went, “oh fuck no” at just the headline, and I don’t even have an Xbox.

I’m a PC gamer, and I don’t have words for how pissed off I am about the fact that every time I turn on my PC, the first thing I see before I can run log in in is a screenshot from Starfield and a message to “Play Starfield on Game Pass!” or to get Game Pass. Like. Eff off and let me log in. If I had to see that bs on a console to boot? I’d be screaming.

For anyone that likes horror, I can’t recommend Red Candle Games enough.

Detention takes place during the White Terror in Taiwan in the 1960s, and is about a student trying to get out of the school after a typhoon, but it turns into something so much darker and sadder as the story unfolds.

Devotion is probably the best PT-esque horror game out there, taking place in a Taiwanese apartment during three different years in the 80s, and is about a script writer trying to create his “perfect future” while he’s trying to figure out what happened to his young daughter. It is one of, if not the, best domestic horror I’ve ever played. And anyone against censorship should definitely get it, because the game was pulled from Steam because of an art asset that got left in by accident that called Xi Jinping Winnie the Pooh, and then GoG said THEY would sell it, but it seems CD Projekt worried China might retaliate and not allow CP2077 to be released in China and backed out a day or two after they said they would carry it (they claimed it was because of “gamer response,” but refused to respond to anyone asking for more details).

Detention, you can get anywhere - it’s even on iOS and Android along with PC, PS Store, and Switch, but Devotion, you can only get from Red Candle’s website, and it is more than worth the $17 bucks: https://shop.redcandlegames.com/

One large 30 fl oz Panera Charged Lemonade contains 390 milligrams (mg) of caffeine. If that sounds like a lot, that’s probably because—at least by the standards of commercial beverages—it very much is. For reference, a cup of coffee typically contains somewhere in the ballpark of 90 mg. Consuming the same volume of Red Bull, 30 fl oz, would equal only 278 mg of caffeine.

Unless their dark roast coffee was listed as having 390 mg of caffeine in it, no one seeing that sign would be expecting that much caffeine.

And in that case, this poor woman definitely wouldn’t have been expecting as much caffeine as she got. It said in one of the articles in the reply that she avoided energy drinks because of the caffeine. She likely has no idea there was so much caffeine in it.

Googling tells me drop coffee has 60-125 mg per cup, which is much less than the 390 mg this drink had. She was probably expecting at most 125mg in the drink.

The thing is, and something I think folks aren’t figuring, is that most people are not going to be calculating by amounts like that. If you see a drink labeled as having as much caffeine as a cup of coffee, most folks are going to the serving size you are getting has the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, not that it has the same amount of caffeine per fluid ounce - that the 30 oz lemonade has the same amount of caffeine as a 8 oz cup of coffee.

If you see a drink labeled as having as much caffeine as a cup of coffee, most folks are going to the serving size you are getting has the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, not that it has the same amount of caffeine per fluid ounce - that the 30 oz lemonade has the same amount of caffeine as a 8 oz cup of coffee. I know that’s what I would have assumed based on the picture of the display in the article. Panera needed to have stated very clearly how they were measuring this - one of the linked articles said the woman never even drank energy drinks, so I bet you money she wouldn’t have ordered this had it been labeled more clearly exactly how much caffeine was in.

This whole super has reminded me of the time I was given caffeine pills for migraines when I was only a few years younger than this woman, and they mistyped the dosage on the instructions. I did not end up in the hospital only because my heart wasn’t quiiiiite beating fast enough for the university health center to call an ambulance, but it was close. They still had me stay there at the health center so they could keep an eye on me for a few hours just in case. I mostly remember lying on a bed watching my hands shaking uncontrollably and feeling my heart pounding in my chest. It was not a fun experience.
