My friends will usually send me the good stuff so it spares me the scrolling. They get to share something cool they found, and I don’t have to scroll. Win-win 😆

I’m not a fan of short form videos at all, but it’s cool that exists for those who do :)

If it has an embed API, I’ll probably add support to Tesseract if there’s interest.

That is certainly a fear I carry, yes. Unfortunately, the most I can do is vote against Trump and the US’s far-right and hope for the best.

Estonia considers itself a front-line state, a Nato member where its border guards stare across the Narva River at the Russian fortress of Ivangorod.

I don’t know why, but the way I read that made it sound like Estonia is Gondor. Which, now that I think about it, seems pretty apt. At least being a NATO member, if/when they call for aid, they should expect an answer.

Lol, right? Lots of instances are having cake days over the next couple of weeks.

I’m going to have such a hangover when I’m done celebrating all of these lol.

Happy Cake Day! Mine’s in just under a week.

Edit: I’m going to slightly bend (but not break) the unofficial Admin Prime Directive a bit and point out that at least two people with Lemmy World accounts downvoted this post. Like, what are you even doing here then?

Flex time alone was worth the pay cut I took when I went corporate to non-profit. You can’t buy time, but flex time is the next best thing.

And other companies who had something half-baked just threw it out to both say “me too!” and to ingest as much user input training data in order to catch up.

That’s why “AI” is getting shoved into so many things right now. Not because it’s useful but because they need to gobble up as much training data as they can in order to play catch up.

Oh, then I missed that. I knew they missed the mark with the jump but thought they had closed the distance by that point. Thanks for pointing that out.

I haven’t had a chance to watch the finale yet, so I may go back and start S4 over and watch them all like 10 a hour movie. Will watch for that when I do.

There’s a comedian who did a bit that was something like “A lot of my friends have parents who got divorced. Mine should have but didn’t. I think I had it worse”.

Paraphrased horribly, but if someone recognizes this bit, please let me know because I’ve long since forgotten even though the gist of it has stuck with me.

I agree with the sentiment completely, but they’ll be even more poor and desperate. Which makes them easier to control/manipulate and even more likely to accept whatever scapegoat their golden calf god tells them is the cause of their poverty.

ptz , to nostupidquestions in Do 9-5 jobs still exist in the U.S.?
@ptz@dubvee.org avatar

I’m technically 9-5, though I can choose 7 to 3 or 8 to 4 if I want. I usually work 7-4 and take extra breaks throughout the day (or a really long lunch). Granted, I work for a non-profit which has a LOT less bullshit to deal with. I also have the option to work 7-5 or 8-6 if I want to only work 4 days a week. Flex time is an amazing fringe benefit.

Outside of salaried jobs, I haven’t seen anywhere mandate 7-5 schedules for hourly employees (unless it’s a 4 day work week). Companies do not like paying overtime, so most I’ve dealt with will send you home the moment you hit 40 hours.

I don’t get why people are downvoting this.

Yeah, the NRA sucks, but a ruling in the other direction would have had worse consequences considering it was a 1st amendment case.
