SOLVED Trouble moving form steam to heroic launcher

Hello, I have been using steam to run a pirated version of elden ring on my linux desktop. This works fine but now i wanna move to heroic launcher instead of steam. The game launches but i dont have any progress in the game. I think it has something todo with wineprefix but i have no clue how to solve this....

pfaca ,

Never touched heroic launcher so can’t really help you there. Normally I just use Lutris, works without fail every time.

Can you change the runner in heroic launcher? Like proton instead of wine?

Newish user migrating to Linux

I have been using Arch Linux with i3wm for around 5 years for work, on my ThinkPad. I am fairly comfortable with pacman and setting up a distro. I have previously tried Mint, Manjaro, KDE Neon, Elementary, and MX Linux, all for the same use case (Work: where I need a browser, Slack, and a MongoDB GUI)....

Try openSUSE tumbleweed in a VM if plasma is your thing. IMHO is one of the best plasma implementations I’ve tried.

I’ve been using it for a year now, does everything I need. No problems whatsoever in gaming.

The only thing I had to do, was enable a extra repo in YAST for installing the codecs to be able to play movies and such.

pfaca ,

Indeed I’m, try it in a VM in whatever system he wants.

openSUSE tumbleweed normal installation image doesn’t have a live system to try. Although there is a live image to try it in a VM, but you can’t use it to install. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Better to try it in a VM before having the work to install it on bare metal.

After Raids, NYPD Denied Student Protesters Water and Food in Jail (theintercept.com)

Students arrested during the police crackdown on protests at universities in New York City last week were denied water and food for 16 hours, according to two faculty members at Columbia University’s Barnard College who collected reports from students who were inside....

Are they funding a RoboCop program or something? 11 billion. WTF?!

One word of advice to OP: don’t wait till you can’t use Windows anymore. Start by dual booting and getting a hang of Linux, but with windows at the ready for any tasks you cannot yet do/feel comfortable doing on Linux. As you get a better hold of Linux, you should naturally begin to use Windows less.

Good advice here OP.

Portugal uses “rabo” or “cu”. “Bunda” is more a Portuguese Brazilian thing.

It has some differences like UK English and US English.

Buying china only phones (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Hey. I was just looking for curiosity the official china xiaomi store. And I saw the Redmi Note 13 Pro+, it seems to be a great phone with 12gb of RAM and 512GB of storage, 200MP camera (I know that doesn’t determine how good the photos will be) for just 2099 yuans which is approximately 250€, and I was wondering, is it even...

pfaca ,

I have a Redmi Note 10S and can confirm this.

Stock ROM with android 11/12, almost 2 days of battery. Upgraded to android 13, and the battery lasted like half a day(even after a factory reset). Unlocked the bootloader a week later and flashed lineageos 20 (android 13), almost 2 days of battery again.

Great hardware, but flash another ROM once you can. I only stayed with stock ROM so long because there was no official support for this model until android 13.

Watching soccer

Ahoy Mateys ! I am a big fan of watching soccer (or football), and usually I would just turn on my PC, look for reddit soccer stream, and watch thus way. However, I recently invested in an Nvidia shield (the stick), and was wondering if there was a way for me to watch the games directly on it, without turning on my PC? I already...

pfaca ,

I’m not experienced with nvidia shield, but in my raspberry pi I use Kodi with the Daddy Live addon. I believe you can install Kodi in the shield, so maybe that’s an option.

pfaca ,

Glad to have helped!

pfaca ,

For the gallery I’m using Aves, and for the file manager Amaze.

For the dialer, contacts and clock I just use the stock apps from LinageOS.

pfaca ,

Yeah, that’s true. But it’s not a problem for me because I rarely edit photos on mobile. When I have to, I just use the stock app.

pfaca ,

I did the same thing but went with LibreELEC+Kodi. And it even works with the TV remote.

pfaca ,

I’m using pi+libreelec+kodi.

Why kodi over plex? No special reasons, kodi does everything I need and with the addons support it gives me a lot of options(torrents+streaming).

Have been using kodi since it was called xbmc in the OG xbox modding scene. Never used Plex, so I just went with what I knew.

pfaca ,

I had xbmc like a decade ago, before I gave up on the aye matey lifestyle

Same thing here.

I was just assuming it was some other hardware solution

Yeah I though so. LibreELEC is a Linux distro with just enough OS to run kodi.

pfaca ,

I’m using a rpi4 model B 4GB.

Works pretty well for my needs. At least until now I don’t feel like it’s underpowered.

It plays 4K video from my main PC with no problems or stuttering. But I mainly use it for 1080p.

pfaca ,

You have various options to export the data. One of those exports subscriptions, listened episodes and queue to another device. I have used it several times and it works well.

pfaca OP ,

Did that now. Does not make any difference.

pfaca OP ,

Not yet. But thats a good tip. Thanks

pfaca OP ,

Yes, it happens when the screen tries to go to sleep or when you use the keyboard shortcut to turn it off.

If it happens in X11 just disabled KScreen 2 in Background Services.

I’ve filled a bug at suse. Let’s see what they say.

pfaca OP ,

No answer yet. I have never filled a bug to suse, so I don’t know if I’m missing something.

This is the link to the bug, if anyone wants to add anything.

What you are looking for its something like goodreads (amazon owned), bookwyrm is trying to do the same in open source with ActivityPub (https://joinbookwyrm.com/) but it’s still in a let’s say “usable alpha state”.

If you want a open source app with no social aspect I’m using https://github.com/mateusz-bak/openreads-android.

pfaca ,

It should be possible once valve releases an ISO for it. But has we all know, valve seems to have a problem releasing anything with a 3 in the name…
