Hi, I’m Miss Brainfart.

I’m afraid of sharks, with the exception being blåhaj. What could that possibly mean, huh.
(That’s not a hint, I genuinely have no idea)

Lemmings can also find me @miss_brainfart:catgirl.cloud on Matrix, if they desire to do so for e2ee reasons

Keep the prostate happy and healthy, that’s all I’m gonna say

Maybe if we tell them uBlock Origin is a condom for their browser, they’ll understand?

What a sentence to type out

It’s always difficult with digital matters, since there isn’t anything tangible and concrete to show.

Like, there’s no shady person following them with a notebook and reporting back to their boss all day, but that is kinda what’s happening, just invisible to the user.

My pihole is pretty good at showing family how many connections their apps make are completely unnecessary to their actual functions. That’s a good illustration to start with.

The original Rasputin, but also the nightcore remix on NightcoreLounge

I have no words left to describe what I think of this

on mobile Brave is better for privacy

Better than default Firefox, though something like Mull is on par, if not better in some areas.

Where Chromium browsers on Android still have the edge though is security. Process/tab/site isolation, stuff like that.

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Great browser, though having proper uBlock Origin is something I just value a lot more.

And not wanting to be a part of the Chromium monopoly out of principle.

There are quite a few games on Steam that come without any DRM, or one that can be easly circumvented without additional tools.

pcgamingwiki.com/…/The_big_list_of_DRM-free_games…

You might find a few of your games on that list, which will make this whole ordeal a lot easier.

Now that’s the truth if I’ve ever seen it. I’m right at the old edge of Gen Z, and some people just three to five years younger than me have trouble finding that file they downloaded.

Now, I’m not judging for that. If you don’t grow up using a PC, how would you know the ins and outs?

But what really gets me if someone needs to use a PC for Uni or work, and still doesn’t make any effort to learn after a year or two of using one.

That’s just inexcusable, no matter the age.

Cher - Believe

Oh, and one that is great for feeling heroic while powering through a plank:

Ennio Morricone - Un Momento

That really, really gets me pumped to hold on to dear life longer than I’d usually be able to

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Hell yeah

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Huh, I guess I do. I discovered it in the soundtrack of Django Unchained, and in that YouTube Playlist it’s titled momento, but it seems to be monumento indeed

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

I had some trouble with Nioh, but I remember it working perfectly after trying a few things

That was last year though, I don’t remember what exactly I did to make it work

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh right, the light attack not working unless left-clicked once. Yeah, that’s a weird one. Cutscenes were borked every now and then, true.

But all in all, I had a good time playing it, which is probably why I remember it having less issues than it actually does.

@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

There’s very few brands/companies that I hate with that much of a burning passion.

People talk about Windows being monopolistic and anti-competitive all day, but Adobe might just take the cake here.

They’re so unbelievably blatant about it, if they could spit in each and every one of their users’ faces, they would.

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Cryptpad, maybe?

Do you ever clean your room and find old christmas or birthday cards you never took the money out of?

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

And then there’s XFCE

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh yeah, I was just mentioning them in general. The most exciting feature of their last big release was being able to change the clocks’ font.

I trust XFCE to bring in new features only when they are 100% sure it’ll work perfectly. That DE has been nothing but rocksolid for me, and I greatly appreciate that.

Though to push them a little bit, Xorg certainly has flaws when it comes to security, and since pretty much no one will make the effort of working on these flaws anymore, Wayland should be a higher priority for any distro or DE.

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Let me just say here how much I appreciate the sex ed I got in school.

I’m talking life-size cross-section models of a human torso that you could take individual organs out of for closer inspection.

One thing we still didn’t learn much about is how wildly different periods can be for different people, I very much appreciated a friend explaining this to me.

If ads were just ads, then sure. But now that they serve as trackers too, and are oftentimes hijacked by malware… yeah no, screw all ads.

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

At the end of the day, it’s probably just a joke to get some laughs out.

Spreading awareness is always good in my book, but how to do it is a whole other problem, isn’t it.

@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Two things are important here:

  1. The faster something on screen moves, the higher your framerate needs to be for a certain level of motion blur.

A 2D point and click adventure at 30fps could have comparable motion blur to a competitive shooter at 180, for example

  1. Framerate is inversly proportial to frametimes, which is what makes it harder to notice a difference the higher you go.

From 30 to 60? That’s an improvement of 16.67ms. 60 to 120 makes 8.33ms, 120 to 240 only improves by 4.17ms, and so on

Ah, something I want to add:
That’s only explaining the visual aspect, but frametimes are also directly tied to latency.

Some people might notice the visual difference less than the latency benefit. That’s the one topic where opinions on frame generation seem to clash the most, since the interpolated frames provide smoother motion on screen, but don’t change the latency.

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Games make the overwhelming majority of the money right at the start either way, so there’s that.

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Let’s put it this way:

Everyone has different standards in terms of motion blur they can bear, and you need a certain framerate to achieve that standard at any given speed of motion on screen.

miss_brainfart , (edited )
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Latency plays a big part too, that’s true. I mentioned that in another comment.

Though how bad a higher latency feels is also tied to how fast you move your mouse. Slowly panning across the map of your city builder makes latency less of an issue than wanting to hit flickshots in Counterstrike.

Latency and framerate go hand in hand, though depending on the game, one might be more important to you than the other.

Which is where frame interpolation gets funny.

If you ever become independant from the Play Store and other Google services, OnePlus devices seem pretty good with DivestOS

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Ah, I might have promised too much. They only have builds for models 5 to 9, sadly

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Ah well, good old adb shell can do a lot of de-bloating, if all else fails

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh, you can absolutely uninstall them. The files needed for installation will stay, but that’s the case with any app you remove like that.

Which is rather helpful, because it makes it easier to reinstall something in case you de-bloated a little too hard.

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

There’s just one thing I want to know:
Is it more, or less complex than Anno 1800?

miss_brainfart , (edited )
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

So not very interesting to the German in me, got it

Now that I think about it, I did grab the first one on Epic that one time. Didn’t run very well though.

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Surely can’t be good to put it in the same oven you prepare food in, can it?

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

The title of this movie is what using lots of lube for butt stuff sounds like

miss_brainfart , (edited )
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Power efficiency is pretty much the main reason preventing me from doing anything of the sorts.

I mean, I’ve got a pihole running on a first-gen Pi, and even that is overkill hardware for what it needs to do

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Guess it’ll depend on who’s providing the video at any given time. It’s peer to peer, after all

miss_brainfart , (edited )
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

What about girlcock? Checkmate, everyone is gay in one way or another

miss_brainfart , (edited )
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Warm seed can come from women too, is all I’m saying

Also, I think it’s time we stop thinking in gay and straight terms. Way too restrictive, sexuality is just more complex than that.

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

All I’m saying is that describing attraction based on appearance can often make things much easier than stricly basing it on sex or gender identity.

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh yeah, absolutely. And that’s what I mean by saying sexuality is complex, people can have such a wild mix of preferences.

miss_brainfart ,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

I don’t see any way to choose which instance to load. I expected it to at least choose the one with the best ping automatically, but it’s either random or just goes back and forth
