Environmental policy nerd, plus I like to make and fix things: #permaculture #textilearts #3Dprinting #cooking #gardening
Gubmint lawyer by trade (this is strictly a personal account).
I like reading about law stuff, social structure stuff, ecology, public health, public goods, and such. I like to see things people made or fixed or grew or noticed themselves. I don’t talk about myself TOO much, and I boost things I find funny, beautiful or interesting.

I've been trying to learn German for years but progress is glacially slow. Sometimes it's like trying to nail water to the wall; it just doesn't stick. Anyone else with an , or diagnosis have issues with second language acquisition? Is it a neurodivergent 'thing'?
Or is it simply that I'm not very good at picking up languages?

@Richard_Littler @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd i can’t seem to learn other languages, but I am very precise with English; I know gazillions of words and enjoy picking the one with exactly the nuance and connotation I am trying to convey. In learning another language, I always have the sense that I’m working with far less than a full array of meanings, because I might not know the EXACT BEST word in that language for what I want to say. Constant frustration, in other words.

@Richard_Littler @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd for example, “gazillions” and “bajillions” stir up ever so slightly different sensations in my brain, and the one I wanted to use there was definitely “gazillions.” Obviously bajillions is slightly more vulgar, whereas gazillions captures more of a sense of awe. (Does French (or whatever) even have two different words for that??? Do you even communicate, bro???)
