I am a singer-songwriter, who writes ballads, vignettes, and earnest, multipart circle songs -- occasionally reaching into other vernaculars as the song requires. Lifting voices and spirits with music and good company, in the richest of folk tradition.

A pack horse librarian delivering books in rural Kentucky in 1938. During the Great Depression, the Pack Horse Library Project was a Works Progress Administration (WPA) program in which the librarians, who were often called "book women" or "book ladies," delivered books to remote parts of Appalachia.

at the risk of sounding like a huge book nerd (I know so little), IMPOSITION OF UNNECESSARY OBSTACLES by @older is physically a beautiful book. No idea what that type is, but it's so satisfying, and looks great on the title page.

And okay, this is weird, but am I wrong? did they use a fancy ink to print it? It's so crisp and silky, looks like what you'd buy in a pot at the stationary store.

... leaving aside the story as written, which is delicious.

I was planning to do this tomorrow but I've got to go to the post office, the Polish deli & Aldi in the morning so I'll start now. Are you planning a special meal to celebrate the Solstice? If so would you like to share your menu? I thought it might be a little light in the darkness, & a little balm to our souls, to bond over delicious food. In case you are interested we are having a dumpling of three nations extravaganza with dips to match. What about you?

@FairytalesFood @folklore we are!

To celebrate the feast of Yule, we cooked a brisket to last the week.

To honor the celestial moment, we're snacking on deserts that are striped with light and dark. And chocolate and vanilla ice cream :)
