governorkeagan , to linux in Super weird error, what's happening?

Have you tried booting in with a live usb? You might be able to do some sort of recovery from there.

Having said, I’m still very much a Linux noob.

governorkeagan , to asklemmy in Hello? Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home?

There’s a bug on v0.19 that is affecting outgoing federation. I believe it’s fixed on v0.19.1.

governorkeagan OP , (edited ) to linux in [SOLVED] Davinci Resolve Plugin Issue on Nobara

I just checked on Pop!_OS to see what version I’m running there because I know everything works fine. harfbuzz isn’t even installed…

When I’m finished work later today I’ll have a look on Nobara for the version installed cs expected etc.

EDIT: I solved the issue.I came across a similar issue on the GitHub repo for harfbuzz and while reading the log file again I had an ah-ha moment. More details in the post.

governorkeagan OP , to linux in [SOLVED] Davinci Resolve Plugin Issue on Nobara

Thank you!

I ran an update after installing Nobara from the welcome page thing. I also ran a dnf update later.

I’ll have a deeper dive tomorrow and try figure out what package has libharfbuzz. Any tips on how to do this effectively?

Resolve is an interesting case since they only officially support 3 distros. They have a .run file which installs the application. resolve on linux

governorkeagan , to linux in 2 years on GNU/Linux - a retrospective attempt

Reading this is making me want to try Arch on my second drive just so I can say “I use Arch btw” lol

governorkeagan , to linux in As a normal, boring user that does nothing special other than browse the internet and the occasional "casual coding" -- what am I supposed to do with 32GiB of ram?

It’s great for multitasking without slowing down any other programs you may be running at the same time.

Depending on what sort of programming you are doing, you might use more of the RAM than “normal”.

governorkeagan , to asklemmy in Is there a point to making an account on multiple Lemmy servers?

This may be a “c/nostupidquestions” question but are there any recommendations for someone who might want a backup account?

In my case, my main account (this account) is from a small instance. I’d assume that then that I should have a larger instance as a backup, correct? I can also see the other side where it doesn’t matter

governorkeagan , to mildlyinfuriating in Current state of Reddit

This. There’s a handful of subreddits that aren’t on Lemmy that I miss but generally speaking I’ve got everything I need on Lemmy. I’m also a lot more engaged here.

governorkeagan , to nostupidquestions in can chromeos be hacked??

You don’t necessarily need to do something for the device to be hacked. There could be an exploit that affects all devices running ChromeOS (or any OS for that matter).

TL;DR: Yes you can.

governorkeagan , to linux in USB webcam lagging only in Zoom?

Have you tried the Zoom web app? They have a link on their site where you can join a meeting in your browser to test if your webcam/mic work correctly

governorkeagan , to linux in Make a Linux App

I’d been playing with the idea of building a Linux app. I used Post Haste on Windows to help me organise footage but haven’t found a substitute on Linux yet.

governorkeagan , to youshouldknow in YSK: You can search (most of?) lemmy as a search engine

How do you find Kagi? I’ve seen it popping up more and more recently

governorkeagan , to linux in (solved) I can't get my linux system to run properly

based on some VM tests

Personally, this makes it seem like they have already done tests in a VM. OP would need to clarify for us though.

governorkeagan , to linux in Is linux good for someone tech illererate.

+1 for Pop!_OS, it’s not given me any issues at all! Zorin OS, looks really good as well, especially if you want a more Windows (visually) experience

governorkeagan , to linux in (solved) I can't get my linux system to run properly

I’ve seen other comments suggest possibly trying a different distro, if that is the case I’d highly recommend Pop!_OS. They have an Nvidia specific ISO that works brilliantly, I’ve not had any issues with it.
