i accidentally mark iwd as dependency rather than explicit. after that someday im removing a package depends on iwd, iwd itself been removed as a dependency as well. and im been blocked out of my remote machine until someday i have physical acces to it

Repairing bad sectors in an external drive

So I have this external 2.5" drive salvaged from an old laptop of mine. bad block are not fix able. however you can create a bacd block map to make your fs skip the bad block. if you have data on your disk currently, i would suggest to use ddrescue to dump a image of your disk, and recover file from it

android tablet have many way to run a linux user land . but most of them are still using downstream android kernel. which means you wont get any 3d acceleration in your “linux” environment. so i would suggest you some sbc based tablet or some chromebook (then install linux on it manually)

android kernel question lineageos

So, I’m wondering if there is any way to get headphone gain settings working in smartpack kernel manager on a vanilla lineageos install. I know it works with elementalx kernel. If I want this setting do I need to compile a lineageos kernel myself and enable a setting somewhere? Is this feature specific to a patch?

afaik gain control sysfs is not a part of vanilla linux kernel. so you may need to port some patch from elementalx kernel, rather than just simply enable some kernel config

Best practices for transferring an existing Linux installation from one drive to another?

Currently, my desktop computer has two storage devices attached: one 1TB NVME SSD, which has both Windows 10 and Linux Mint 21.2 installed on it (Each OS getting ~ 500 GB), and a 1TB SATA hard drive mostly used for Timeshift backups of the Linux Mint partition (Including my Home folder, for the record)....
