Some autistic people find making phone calls extremely stressful and unpleasant and will avoid them at all costs.

Please don’t try and force your communication preferences on others.

@autism101 @actuallyautistic The challenge with working with people is getting them to read more than a sentence. I always go with messaging first, email to cma, then phone or video because they still didn't read it or respond in a reasonable time(24hrs). This has been a weekly issue since working in the tech industry. If people would read, understand, and respond in a timely matter, it wouldn't be an issue with text only communication.
Doesn't seem to matter the writing style, 50% don't read.

@autism101 @actuallyautistic really just seems like people prefer different styles, get frustrated, and overwhelmed with others. It's just being a human, and the hardest challenge we have as humans is communicating with each other. We all have to make compromises and be empathetic with each other. Demanding one way only doesn't help anyone, especially in a working environment. That is the challenge of working at a company or managing a team. Side note, the higher the education, the harder it is.

@Jobob @autism101 @actuallyautistic that is their preference due to the stress level. Everyone has to compromise to some extent to survive in society. Each person has their own challenges, and we need to be understanding of those differences. Also understanding there are timelines and expectations at companies, sometimes the video or phone calls are required. Like everyone we have to just deal with life at times, and it sucks

@autism101 @actuallyautistic the challenge at work is waiting for responses that are time sensitive. An individuals anxiety about phone or video calls has on many occasions caused issues due to timeliness. This causes stress for everyone involved when waiting for someone to read/understand/respond. As many have stated context switching throws them off, that's another challenge for work. Devs need to understand that, since so many are opposed to documentation and wrote the code.
