Didn’t Johnson and Johnson try the same and failed with their Baby Powder?

albert180 ,

Maybe it’s about maintaining the image of being the biggest assholes inside of the United States at this point

Sounds like the average Church of Elon Member to me (I’m pro EVs, but Elon/Tesla-Cultists are insufferable)

albert180 , (edited )

I expect some childish short circuit illegal move from him any time.

albert180 ,

Let’s see how long it takes for the first Teslemmings to arrive and post an article from one of their Shill Outlets how everything is Rainbow and Unicorns at Tesla and it’s just evil FUD

Fedora for my Laptop: It just works out of the Box and everything is close to vanilla

Thinkpads RE: Repairability/upgradability

I need to upgrade my laptop and one of the things I’m looking for is repairability/upgradability. I’ve been told thinkpads are good in this respect, how true is that? In terms of replacing batteries and memory, at least. I’m also looking at the frameworks, but those black friday deals are looking alright at lenovo....

albert180 ,

Go with T-Series not with E or L. Better quality of materials, comes with better warranty (you can get up to 5 Years), longer spare parts availability, and usually you can replace more by yourself.

albert180 ,

To which party she belongs? PiS?

albert180 ,

I’m so happy for you that you managed to get rid of PiS 😊

albert180 ,

I don’t get the whole immutable hype. Sounds like it’s just more a PITA to use

albert180 ,

My University runs a huge Nextcloud Enterprise Instance, which runs perfectly fine. So maybe there is different code for the enterprise version, or you are inept as it seems to run at many large organizations just fine

albert180 ,

Easy fix, it will be a requirement for Windows 12, unfortunately you all need to buy new computers ¯\(ツ)/¯

Look at all the Hypocrisy around Silicon Valley Bank, suddenly all the libertarians were crying and begging for a bailout. And they got it unfortunately

Exxon CEO Darren Woods is scheduled to deliver a speech called “Reframing the Climate Challenge: Keep the Energy, Curb the Emissions.”

I’m sure Xi will appreciate it to be taken for a fool

albert180 ,

Yes, we have sales tax too. It’s just stupid that it isn’t included in the sticker price

I’m curious, I thought with DHT the hash of the file would suffice?

What Android or Linux programs are the best to have all my email boxes in the same application?

I use different web interfaces to access Gmail, Hotmail, ProtonMail, Disroot, etc. However, I would like to use a single client to receive all my emails. Which desktop programs would you recommend for Linux, and which apps would you recommend for Android? I need them to support all of these email boxes. From what I’ve read...

albert180 ,

I really enjoyed KMail when I used KDE. The Integrations also with KDETravel are really nice, and it supports every Feature you can think of

albert180 ,

The whole Z-Library is available as multiple torrents, and much stuff also via IPFS.

You can interact with communities from other servers from your home server. Your posts and replies will be seen there. No need to login on other servers

albert180 ,

Why?

albert180 ,

You could use the Mastodon-Model, where you can download your data and point the users to the new instance, so the followers migrate automatically

albert180 ,

AI Watermarks will work very well. I guess in a few months there will be Removal Tools en Masse out there

albert180 ,

I don’t get why anyone hosts Servers running 24/7 on AWS/GCloud/Azure. The pricing is just outrageous. Everyone else will be cheaper

Huiuiui du hast Lases zerbrochen? Wie fühlt es sich so an, als einzelne Person so eine riesige Firma zu zerbrechen?

Can Lemmy posts be indexed by Google or other search engines?

One of the best things about reddit was looking for answers or other users with the same problem as you, and since Google didn’t really help with that anymore and instead insisted on giving you business results, the best practice was to put your search terms in followed by ‘reddit’ and you’d find your answer.

albert180 ,

Yes, but Google annoyingly "corrects" every feddit.* searchterm to reddit

https://feddit.de/pictrs/image/5481e13b-46cf-4e55-a3bf-d0d89740d296.png

albert180 ,

That's what I did, see the search term in the search field

albert180 ,

I guess you would need the name of the instance where the community resides. But usually if you search about specific questions the site with the information will appear (be it reddit or some lemmy instances) without adding it to the search term

albert180 ,

I guess, but it's highly unlikely that "vlemmy.net" or "feddit.de" will be more searched than Reddit.com in the next time

albert180 ,

The site: is feddit.de: and after that follows the search query. It works that way too, and it's less work to type. Try it out by yourself

albert180 ,

You are right. My apologies

albert180 ,

Because the f stands for federated and it's the biggest German node?

albert180 ,

How is this supposed to work with GPL ? Because anyone owning a copy is free to redistribute sources

albert180 ,

AFAIK the problem is there is no good movie database which allows free use of their data
