@beexcessivelydiverting @bookstodon I notice more foreshadowing every single time I read this book. "Compliments always take you by surprise, and me never." Lizzy has a big surprise coming later with Darcy's first proposal!

Have you watched P&P 2005 with director Joe Wright's audio commentary? If not, I highly recommend it! So much detail about the actors and why they changed certain things from the book.

Today is chapter 3 of P+P! We discover Mr. Bennet has met Bingley but won't give Mrs. Bennet the details so of course she's vexed. The assembly that Bingley and Darcy attend and meet Jane and Lizzy occurs. We find out that Darcy goes from man to the hour to a right asshole. We also get another famous Austen quote, "She's not handsome enough to tempt me."

@beexcessivelydiverting @bookstodon Catching up on your chapters now. I think you skipped a line about how many people made up the Bingley party at the assembly in the end? I've definitely read the book too many times lol. Mrs. Hurst is a sister to Bingley and Caroline, yes. I never considered it before, but I wonder if the "five sisters" line is true or an exaggeration by Lady Lucas? We only see the two Bingley sisters, but until now I assumed the other three stayed behind in London.
