Difference Between Nerd and Geek

Has anyone written a scientific treatise on the differences between nerd and geek?

On the one hand, I could instigate endless debate about the finer points of nerds.

On the other hand I could construct nerds with a 3-D meat printer.

I thought geeks were the folks who bit the heads off of live chickens in circuses?

Kind of like Ozzy Osbourne and biting heads off of bats.

Nerds, on the other hand, are my favorite candy.

> NSA officials told Wyden that not only is the intelligence agency purchasing data on Americans located in the US but that it also bought Americans' Internet metadata.

Why do you need to spy, when you can simply... buy?

We gave up our data willingly and made it easy for all the 3-letter agencies of the world. We only have ourselves to blame. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, “we can do it because there aren’t laws against it” is pretty much the worst justification for anything unethical.

But I guess what do you expect when a large amount of the world equates “legal” with “moral and ethical.”

Not true, they don’t need to know, but they want to know because they like avoiding risk.

Fuck that, make business risky again! The line shouldn’t just go up forever.

You can go all Elon Musk and start using arbitrary measurements like “unregretted user minutes” to lean on for your opinions, and then your opinions can appear just as valid as anyone elses.

Remember, you can prove anything with statistics.

Elon's "extremely hardcore" toxic work culture means people are forced to take Adderall without a prescription to meet their workload. Just ask SpaceX employees.

"Some SpaceX workers resorted to taking Adderall to keep up with the pace of work at the company's launch facility, and others found themselves falling asleep in the bathroom during long workweeks, a recent Reuters investigation found.

"Travis Carson, a former SpaceX worker at the company's facility in Brownsville, Texas, told Reuters some workers took Adderall — a stimulant designed to help people with ADHD improve their focus and concentration levels — without a prescription to keep up with the pace of work."

Meth is short for “crystal methamphetamine.” Adderall is made of four different amphetamines. All amphetamines are stimulants. You’re splitting hairs here.

They are not the same in terms of the euphoric high that meth has and Adderall does not, so Adderall tends to be less addictive.

However, long-term use of Adderall can still result in physical dependency and withdrawals when coming off of it.
