That’s more of a Bethesda thing than a video games thing. They’re well known for using a frankly kinda ancient game engine.

On the money thing, I’ve always liked the idea that I take some of the adult kids money and store it away for them for when they move out.

My kids are far too young for that, but I don’t think a bit of that sort of thing hurts in the long run. He’s earning significantly more than I was at his age and he’s not paying much at all; I’d give £150 a month to live at home 15 years ago, and I never saw any of it back.

Charge him board. It’ll benefit him in the long run, especially if you fence off some of that money to give him later.

We trailed this a few years ago in the supermarket I worked at. The idea was you’d buy the jug and then just buy a new bag when you needed one. Save on plastic waste I assume, but it never caught on.

Mostly waiting for Lies Of P to land in a day or two. I have spent more time with Starfield, but as I mentioned in a previous comment, I think I’m reaching the end of my time with that one.

I don’t think it’s ‘bad’, but I do think it’s a severely compromised game that underwhelms more than it should for a game of it’s budget and the team behind it. There’s moments where you can see so much potential but it is always somewhat hidden by this mid 2000s design that I thought we’d moved past.

I absolutely love your description of the game being ‘big empty rooms’. I think I’ve come to the same conclusion in the last 24 hours. The space stuff and the on-planet stuff feels disjointed and unconnected. The way you traverse the universe is incredibly underwhelming (so many menu’s) and the actual game design just feels so 2008.

I know, but I’ve got bills to pay and kids to feed. I worked for 15 years in the same place, it wasn’t horrible until the end. Then I changed it up, working more hours and earning more money but I feel like this place is taking significantly more out of me than the old place did; or maybe I just don’t have as much time to recover now I’ve got 2 kids instead of 1.

I hate my job. I hate how it dictates my life and how despite working a 50 hour week (and my partner working 20 hours) we still barely afford to make rent and feed our kids, but I’m not sure how we’d escape this nightmare short of winning the lottery.
