You gotta not fuck up every day to not get served if they are looking for you.

The AG only needs to wait patiently for that 1 fuck up.

Sometimes, the AG gets it all wrapped up like a nice birthday present.

You can try Kotlin Compose Multiplatform.

It can target JVM (windows, Linux, Mac) and then work on iOS and Android.

Android and JVM are stable. IOS is alpha and works well. Should be beta this year.

WASM support is coming as well but is experimental.

You can do as much multiplatform as you want and do as much platform specific as you want.

Compose itself is a declarative UI framework. Your UI is code.

Edit: You do require a Windows, Linux, and Mac machine to build the executables for each desktop JVM app, as well as a Mac for an iOS app. Android you can build on any of them.

Okay, so intersex people are mentally ill from the moment that plays out in the womb?

Is this a schrodingers mental illness, where up until the intersex is determined by an ultrasound that they are both mentally fine and mentally ill?

NotMyOldRedditName ,

Loved this when it was new!! Highly recommend it.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

He’s claimed before that he honestly believes it each year by watching the progress the past X months, but suddenly all progress stops as their method hits a plateau. So they keep changing methods.

It’s probably an honest mistake the first time or two, but he’s done this every year since and has no credibility anymore.

After being wrong by a year or two, he should have explained what was going in, and shut up about it, with a simple I don’t know when it’ll be ready but you should see forward progress each year.

The part of the claim here where they wouldn’t upgrade the cameras is a part that I’m highly interested in.

I don’t expect tesla to upgrade any hardware beyond what they believe is required which they claim hardware 3 is.

But the moment a hardware 3 car can’t flip a switch and become level 3/4 SAE autonomous and a hardware 4, 5, 6 or whatever it is if/when solved is required, I think there’s a massive lawsuit there unless Tesla somehow upgrades the cars.

Suddenly the car didn’t come with the hardware required and can’t function as described, especially back when it was announced.

Tesla will say, oh we’ll get it working on HW3 next year… and try to kick the can to avoid liability, but I don’t think that will work long.

Edit: and as per the ruling, it sounds like the new knowledge that the car can’t on HW3 but can on others, would trigger new knowledge opening up past the statute of limitations

I can imagine so many sentences like

We don’t have a problem with XYZ, but we need to fix/address…

And just cutting it before the but

NotMyOldRedditName ,

You dont need this audio file for that, there’s enough audio or Biden today to already generate anything you want.

They could use this to cut things up and play actual audio though.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

It was a fair question, but this is just going to turn out like universities failing or expelling people for alleged AI content in papers.

They can’t prove it. They try to use AI tools to prove it, but those same tools will say a thesis paper from a decade ago is also AI generated. Pretty sure I saw a story of a professor accusing someone based off a tool having his own past paper fail the same tool

Short of an admission of guilt, it’s a witch hunt.

That’s just Elon being petty and he was attacked first.

It was his trans daughter coming out and disowning him when shit started spiraling into the right wing must save the world from wokeness.

There’s a big difference in being petty or vindictive or an asshole and this anti wokeness stuff which is going to cause great harm to society.

He always had the asshole/ petty thing going if you followed him before.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

That or be scum enough to frame someone else for it.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

Also, I bet if we ever saw those 2 reconcile their relationship, we’d see a change in his public persona.

I’m not holding my breath on that one though.

How can there not be a good todo app???

Is it just that there’s no Linux one but there is mobile?

Maybe with Kotlin Multiplatform someone will get an existing mobile one running on Linux as that would be useful.

I can’t imagine it’d be too hard given a todo app doesn’t need a lot of Android specific functionality. I’m in the middle of converting my app to target desktop/ios/android and its been going very well and the tooling is improving rapidly.

That or someone might write a nice one as a starter project as Multiplatform from the start to learn it?

NotMyOldRedditName ,

So what do you really want when you say journaling your peogess.

Is that something like

Recurring Fitness Run 5k 2 times a week.

As you check it off for number one, it prompts you to leave a note about it? And maybe you can see all your notes by category or chronologically?

Or is the journaling a completely separate thing? I can see how the two might not be done as separate things as you’re really getting into 2 wholly different apps.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

Just saw your edit. I think I got a better idea of what you meant now with what PalmOS had. Such a shame about requiring an account to use the apps that are available. I get why they might do it if you want to share data across devices / platforms, but if you only want it locally and you’re okay with that, they should let you make that choice, especially for desktop apps.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

Looks like Lifeograph has a 3.0 release candiate which is brand new last month. Maybe they’ve have made things simpler and added a better theme?

NotMyOldRedditName ,

I’d greatly appreciate a “requires account” on app stores.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

I mean… I’m up in Canada but in one of the highest cost of living cities in the country which isn’t as bad as San Francisco or NYC but it’s bad…

20k is 1666 a month extra.

The only thing thats gone up $1666 a month more would be a larger house.

Fancy 1 bedrooms are up to 2000-2500 and they were never $334 to 734 even 15 years ago.

Something is wrong with that headline or their math

NotMyOldRedditName ,

Ah, assuming that’s what’s behind the paywall that makes much more sense.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

In one of the interview with Nolan he says he has full body spasms when he sits in the chair and those spasms take him out of position from being able to use the mouth stick controller. With neuralink he doesn’t need intervention by someone else post spasms to continue.

Definitely enough to be jostling the head, but he didn’t get into explicit detail of how serious they are movement wise.

Edit: side note, makes me wonder if they’re a build up of spinal signals and the cord briefly connects and suddenly a pile of commands go through and he spasms.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

We jam stuff into our body for all sorts of medical things.

Some require rejection meds for life. Others don’t.

And I haven’t pirated a game in I don’t even know how long now because of Steam.

Fuck that BS :(

So couldn’t a court compel the VPN to log all IPs and then use some FISA level shit to prevent the VPN from alerting users?

There’s been a handful of VPN cases taken to court where they have proved, at that moment in time, that they had no logs to hand over. But why not take it that last step and compel the change then?

NotMyOldRedditName ,

US Gov: Here’s a blank cheque, make it happen.

But really, the best I can come up with given this is clearly not impossible, is it would destroy the business, but I still think FISA could somehow bypass that given how broad and secret it is.

Russia threatens Britain with retaliation if involvement in Ukraine war deepens (www.pbs.org)

Russia on Monday threatened to strike British military facilities and said it would hold drills simulating the use of battlefield nuclear weapons amid sharply rising tensions over comments by senior Western officials about possibly deeper involvement in the war in Ukraine....

NotMyOldRedditName ,

If Russia attacks the UK can Ukraine attack China and Iran?

Probably a bad idea but that’s what they’re saying isn’t it?

Edit: and given russias use of China and Iran weaponry, if it happens to be from them, the UK can attack them too now!

NotMyOldRedditName ,

It wouldn’t, but Russia is basically saying that’s a perfectly valid reason to do it.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

Ah gotcha. Definitely times to pull out the nukes for that unforgivable act then.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

US assessment is that China is providing the majority of what Russia needs to make those weapons, which is critical to russias ability to maintain their offensive.

theguardian.com/…/china-supporting-russia-in-mass…

They’re using loopholes to bypass sanctions by posing as civilian gear.

Ukraine is also finding critical Chinese parts on captured gear that used to be from other countries honoring those sanctions.

“Our view is that one of the most gamechanging moves available to us at this time to support Ukraine is to persuade the PRC [People’s Republic of China] to stop helping Russia reconstitute its military industrial base,” the official said.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

You can say what you want about cutting something like the supercharger network and how that can be bad for Tesla, but that can be managed to some extent. Cutting off internships like this is long term a very bad thing. Companies like this need young talent and this is an amazing way to foster and grow that. This can be devastating to their long term future potential.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

I was gonna say 3rd times the charm but it clearly isn’t.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

These things cost billions to create. Those billions are often (or should be anyway) spread out over the millions of people who can use the drug.

When a drug is a one time cure, for something that is rare, it becomes incredibly difficult to make any money back on that unless the cost is incedibly high, or it’s government subsidized.

That’s why a lot of things we probably could cure aren’t cured yet. It just doesn’t make sense financially to do it. And if they do do it, people like you get angry at them.

This is much less of a problem in a public single payer system, but even then some of those systems don’t cover these kinds of treatments.

NotMyOldRedditName , (edited )

Okay, so this drug costs 1 million instead of 2 million now assuming they didn’t offer any subsidy because of that, which they probably didn’t.

Edit: just to go further on the topic - if we don’t want crazy prices on these types of cures (low / single use, high research cost) they essentially need to be completely funded by the government with a clause on pricing, or simply owned by the government. But you’re going to have a hard time convincing people to vote for you when you spend 2 billion hoping for a low use cure vs working on something more widespread and impactful, even if it’s the right thing to do.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

well thats… fucked.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

getting stronger after each failed attempt.

Why would that be a decided upon outcome? There’s gotta be a reason for that intention

NotMyOldRedditName ,

I feel like this isn’t the right term to use for something like this.

When I hear fertility rate, I think, capability of having babies. How many people are infertile due to whatever reason, thus limiting our ability to have more children.

This should just be birth rate?

NotMyOldRedditName ,

They just made a 6 lane road that goes through commercial strip mall type area 30km/h when it used to be 50km/h. It’s for like 4 blocks with 50km/h on either side. Lights at all intersections.

NO ONE goes 30km/h there, it’s the most insane thing ever.

Side streets with no speed limits (which here makes it 50km/h) thats usually way too fast and most people will naturally go slower than 50 but not gonna lie, 30km/h on some of those also seems excessive.

Add some speed bumps, narrow the street by adding side walks on both sides, and suddenly 30 feels fine.

NotMyOldRedditName , (edited )

Radar doesn’t work for stopped vehicles at high speeds though. You’ll still need cameras and or lidar. OEMs rely so heavily on radar though that their cameras don’t detect this well enough in emergency situations either.

You need either an impeccable vision algorithm, or lidar for this scenario.

That recent Blue Cruise crash for example, even if the conditions had been perfect, and not at night, with no lights, that’s a failure condition for the system. A vehicle moving out of the way of a stopped vehicle ahead of it, is a failure condition on all existing L2 systems. In this case for the human, it’s also a failure condition given the specific conditions.

This is an actual area we can improve on in terms of mandated safety features, solving this problem. There are tons of rear ending of stopped vehicles at high speeds. It’s very dangerous for police/emergency services doing stops, or broken down vehicles. If the vehicle could react to this even when a L2 system isn’t engaged, that would be big.

If it was lidar based it doesn’t even need to be a lidar capable of semi-autonomous driving features, it could be a narrow forward facing one simply for this purpose in emergency situations.

Paywalled, but if that was for q1 the model 3 was ramping up the highland model. The numbers from q1 are meaningless.

Edit: someone posted a non paywalled version and it is q1. So ya, it’s meaningless.

Edit: it’d actually be better to see how the Model Y did in Q1 as a litmus test.

Edit: Reuters reports model Y best selling vehicle in California in Q1

Thanks!

NotMyOldRedditName ,

That headline is terrrrible. They wanna rollback public use. Still decriminalized otherwise.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

Knowing I can drive from A to B with it to enjoy in private is a HUGE change and relief.

Not to say I haven’t gone for walks on acid in very large parks, but I’m also not making an ass of myself or being disruptive. Making people upset with me would probably put a huge downer on the trip. I just wanna see and be in nature. Being drunk in public isn’t allowed either, you still gotta keep yourself together.

We had a Vic20 then a Commodore 64 when I was a kid.

I think our first modem was 300baud and I went on BBS’s with it.

I think the next modem was 2400, but I remember being so excited when we got a 9600.

I got a hand me down 386 and later bought a 486 cpu used off a neighbor and upgraded it myself. That was my first time tinkering inside the case.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

Ah, I was actually wondering if this was because oh we have a naval fleet guarding it, thats millions a day right there.

NotMyOldRedditName ,

Samsung’s 10x camera is amazing, I’m pretty miffed they dropped down to a digial zoom 10x though and made it a 5x on the S24 series, even if it gives other benefits like higher quality mid zooms between the 3x and 10x.

I really hope they bring it back or someone else has a good 10x lens by the time I need a new phone.

Fuck only having a 3x after having a 10x

NotMyOldRedditName , (edited )

Dude, I was literally in another thread where someone posted a video talking about how many deaths FSD caused (17) and extrapolating those numbers by how many FSD miles were driven lead to fsd being 11x more dangerous than a humans driver.

It had all sorts of upvotes.

Except, those accidents were on AP which has multiple billions of miles driven, not FSD. The NHSTA has only said there was 1 fsd related death. Related, as in, not confirmed to be the cause of.

They don’t even know what they’re mad about. And i get downvoted for showing the major flaw in their post.

I bet they’ve never used, or had to acknowledge the warnings prior to using AP. Let alone the even more dire warning FSD gives (or gave prior to v12 anyway, not sure what today’s warnings are)

NotMyOldRedditName ,

That comment was wrong. I pointed out why in a reply.
