The rulers of today have already bought nice chunks of London, Paris, New York. They’ll be fine.

MoodyRaincloud ,

Most Europeans have one, max 2 cars per household. A fuckton of Europeans also go on holiday with their cars once or twice a year.

One car needs to work for most use cases. It’s fine if you have more cars than people in the house that one of them is a 100 mile range commuter, but a different kettle of fish if the same car needs to do an 800+ mile trip to the Mediterranean in summer and a 500 mile ski trip in winter.

A quarrel about a Pokémon gym gone too far.

I’m a natural sprinter. Very fast on short distances. But the endless slog from one shop to the next, with no respite, no idea when it will end. When we come home I’m dead tired and empty. She’s dead tired and full.

The numbers went up since the mass adoption of electric bikes. This caused especially elderly people to drive twice as fast as they could before, with heavier bikes they can’t control as well and they generally don’t wear helmets.

The next big problem are young people doing what young people do but now with electric assistance

MoodyRaincloud ,

Most people who ride bikes just ride bikes. And a minority are what you call “cyclists”.

You’re lumping them all together and are part of the problem. Dick.

Disney is gouging customers with a near doubling of subscription costs. (sh.itjust.works)

Disney is raking its customers over the coals with a 75% price hike for their annual subscription (originally $80.) People wonder why piracy is on the rise.Multiple commenters are saying I’m off base about the 75% price increase. My payment less than a year ago was $79.99. Here’s the proof.

MoodyRaincloud ,

Death by a thousand cuts though. I had to sit a co-worker down and go over his finances because he never learnt at home or school. The amount of €10-25 monthly subscriptions this guy had meant he spent about €500 per month on those. On top of buying everything on payments because he never has any savings.

It’s another example of making use of the flawed human psyche which can’t keep track of the little things.

Your yard in your summer residence then. Jeez

Housecats were actually keeping the bird population healthy for decades by eliminating the weak. Of course now that habitat destruction and toxins made entire populations weak it is a problem.

But removing housecats to solve it is akin to drinking out of paper straws to solve plastic pollution. It helps, but it doesn’t do anything substantial.

MoodyRaincloud ,

Those are indeed special situations where cats are basically an invasive species.

Here in Europe the correlation between cats and bird population is not so strong. While destruction of habitat and the crash in insect numbers are the big culprits.

While the influence from the elite is undeniable, I also hope you don’t subscribe to the idea of the noble savage.

No script is not an easy tool. By default, it breaks 99% of websites. It has become a game for me though to approve the lowest amount of scripts to make a site run, but I realize this is definitely not for everyone.

People are concerned or outraged again in the name of someone else. In this case Salma Hayek. Usually using that she tells the story of how uncomfortable she felt, leaving out the fact that she felt uncomfortable because of the snake. Not this.

Olive oil is too thick and will go rancid and harden. Use mineral oils

Guys. This fellow here is missing a Lord of the Rings reference! Did you know that trilogy is 20 years ago now? Feeling old yet?

Hold on a minute. Does this mean health insurance in the States is linked to employment? So you lose your job, you lose your health insurance?

That’s rather rude, and frankly, uncivilised.

What's a skill that's taken for granted where you live, but is often missing in people moving there from abroad?

I was thinking about that when I was dropping my 6 year old off at some hobbies earlier - it’s pretty much expected to have learned how to ride a bicycle before starting school, and it massively expands the area you can go to by yourself. When she went to school by bicycle she can easily make a detour via a shop to spend some...

Same happened in my town. Beautiful Linden trees (I think Basswood in America). There came protest, so they hired a company to check on the trees and would you know it. ALL trees had something wrong with them and would have died in 20 years anyway. They were all cut down.

If only there would be viable alternatives for the mass transit of people. It would free up the road for those who like to or absolutely have to drive.

So often forgotten as an argument. Driving would be great if those who don’t want to are not forced to.

MoodyRaincloud ,

When people talk about mass transit they never have your scenario in mind. It’s a bullshit argument against doing anything.

You think construction companies enjoy having their men and tools stuck in traffic surrounded by about 50% of cars that shouldn’t and wouldn’t be there if people had valid choices?

It’s an and-and story. No-one in their right mind, except for rabid edgy internet communists wants to ban cars altogether.

For better efficiency the steam should be used twice, in a high pressure circuit first and on its way back to the boiler through a low pressure circuit.

Permission to shout hurrah in an annoyingly loud voice sir!
