@drohm @autism101 @actuallyautistic As far as I know, I am not autistic, but I really hate talking on telephones. I don't even like text very much, unless it's an urgent situation where a text is more likely to attract someone's attention than a properly composed email.

Historians know a fair bit about Herod the Great, the king of Judea at the time of Jesus’ birth.

And yes, Herod’s sinister reputation as a tyrant was probably well deserved. It made him the perfect villain for Matthew to set up as a parallel to Pharaoh.

@TheConversationUS @histodons Many years since I read a book on the Herod family, but my hazy memory says that the really interesting character was H the G's father Antipater, who manoeuvred them into royalty in the first place. Got on very well with Mark Antony and very badly with Cleopatra...
