I use Kvæsitso. I like that it’s more search focused and has a clean homescreen with just the clock and a search bar. You can scroll up to see widgets arranged vertically or scroll up to show the app drawer. It also looks nice because it supports the new Android design (Material v3) and dynamic colors. It also supports dynamically colored app icons like lawnicons and has an option to color all other icons as well.

I was actually searching for a theme like this just a few minutes ago but didn’t find anything, so thanks for sharing. Does this use the GTK 4/Libadwaita style?

How did you install steam?

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

You should install it through the terminal or as a flatpak, that might fix the issue. You only download applications from the web on linux if there’s no other way.

Nintendo games getting leaked helps emulator developers to iron out issues before most people start playing. Most recent example is tears of the kingdom.

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

But at the same time, people know that leaks aren’t finished so I don’t think anyone expects it to be the finished product. And in the case of tears of the kingdom, it was actually already finished so the leak was exactly the same as the game that came out at launch.

By just going on reddit once to see what’s there, I would guess. Or by using a libreddit instance.

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

Sadly, there’s rarely any information on that

I preffered AUR over flatpak before as well but that changed more and more every time a AUR package didn’t launch anymore or didn’t update anymore because of some build error. I actually started migrating a lot of stuff over to the flatpak version because it just works.

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

Weird. I’ve never had an issue with flatpaks, which makes sense since it’s exactly the same on all systems. If it didn’t launch for you, it shouldn’t have for anyone else either, so the issue should have been fixed before the developer released a new version.

I live in Germany, most people here have that or less

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

They chose .ml because it was free. They don’t delete comments just because they don’t agree with them. I don’t get why some people feel the need to spread lies about the lemmy devs/lemmy.ml admins just for being in favour of communism.

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

This would create the same issue every time you wanted to switch servers / server hosters and would make self hosting with a dynamic ip impossible

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

I live in germany and I don’t know a single person that uses SMS or iMessage. Almost everyone here uses WhatsApp.

Has anyone used or contributed to OpenStreetMap?

I’ve tried using it over the years but I never liked it because there was no information. So last night I looked at my local city and there is almost no information at all. I spent a few hours last night adding buildings and restaurants and removing incorrect items. It was actually kind of fun and therapeutic and I plan to do...

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

Started contributing aswell when I saw that my city was really outdated and it’s actually really fun to do it

Instead of BF, I would try out BattleBit. It’s an Indie game that’s very similar to BF and got very popular recently.It’s supposed to be BF but actually good.

I run a degoogled custom rom and I can still use those apps (except for Google apps maybe but that would defeat the whole point anyway)

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

That’s still F-Droid, just a different client

You can get intro skipping for Jellyfin too with a plugin. It even works with Findroid, which is a native Android app for Jellyfin. I’ve been using it for a while now (maybe a month or so) and it’s always worked perfectly.

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

I already commented this on another comment here but there’s a plugin for Jellyfin to get intro skipping

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

You need to install a modified web interface (just replace some files on your server) so you get the skip button

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

Why do you have both Jellyfin and Plex?

Fisch ,
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

My familie’s smart TV has a thing called “Web App Tester”, which let’s you navigate the web interface as if it was an actual application, which works really well

SATA SSDs don’t really make sense nowadays anymore. Last time I checked, they cost the same and are actually the exact same thing, except SATA SSDs have a big, mostly empty, plastic case around them and use a slow connector

    There must be a way to change that though

    Fisch ,

    It’s not better than F-Droid, it’s useful for apps that aren’t on F-Droid tho

    Fisch ,
    @Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

    That’s not a common thing people do tho

    True. But Wayland will get there too, it just takes time.

    Why do people hate Manjaro and how to replicate Manjaro sway in arch or arco?

    Pretty much the title. Where’s the hate towards Manjaro coming from? I was pretty much a Ubuntu/Fedora user for years but never got too technical. Used almost always gnome, but recently got interested in tiling wm and have done some searches and stumbled upon the Manjaro Sway edition and everything works quite well, but I keep...

    Fisch ,
    @Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

    I’ve used Manjaro for a while and my system broke twice in that time just by updating my system (And with “broke” I mean it didn’t boot anymore). Then I switched to EndeavourOS and I haven’t had that issue once. Been using that for over 2 years now.

    I’m actually part of the last two groups but I’ve also noticed that most people on the fediverse seem to be from an entirely different generation than me

    I designed a Material You app for Lemmy (lemmy.ml)

    Hi everybody, I’m a UI/UX designer and I wanna contribute to the community here with my expertise. Here is a quick prototype for a Android Lemmy app with Material You Design, it’s a simple and customizable app. With this app, I also want to improve the experience when exploring different servers....

    Using no password manager and a different password for every account would be the most secure option but most people (including me) would be too lazy for that. Instead I used to use the same password everywhere, which is obviously very unsafe. I then switched to Bitwarden, where I can just generate a secure password for each account and I can access them all with one password. I still need to remember only one password but it’s a lot more secure than using the same one everywhere.

    DMs are one of Matrix’s main features

    Fisch ,
    @Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

    idk what you mean by that… you can send messages or files to eachother, just like on discord. What else is there?

    Fisch ,
    @Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

    There’s a setting to put them into seperate sections and aside from that, Element isn’t the only Matrix client. And for group DMs you can just make a group chat.

    Fisch ,
    @Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

    You literally just made that up. I’m pretty sure they said at some point that they chose this simply cause its free.

    Fisch ,
    @Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

    I just get kinda pissed off at comments like that because I’ve been using lemmy for like 3 years now and they’ve never done something wrong but now there are some people that just say stuff about them that’s not even true. Your comment wasn’t the first like that after all.
