I'm starting to find some of the cooler aspects of the wider fediverse.

For instance, Lemmy is a Reddit clone that is picking up some migration after the recent hooha or at Reddit.

The cool thing is that it's federated (same as mastodon, different instances and everything).

This means that you can subscribe to any community on Lemmy, for instance

https://lemmy.world/c/showerthoughts

through its fediverse address, right here on your mastodon instance:

@showerthoughts

It’s tricky because Lemmy doesn’t support following people directly.

I think you can @ people on Mastodon/Misskey/Firefish by @[email protected] and they will see it, and I assume if you reply to a post or comment made by them (since they can post/comment here) they can interact with it normally.

No idea if using hashtags on Lemmy will populate people’s Mastodon feed with those posts, but I assume… not?

If you want a combination of following people and communities, that’s basically the premise of Kbin, if I understand right. Not sure they support hashtags, though.

    Niue is trying to wrangle control of .nu form Sweden, so I’m a little worried. It’s been ongoing for years though.

    @fediverse Vlemmy refugees logging in from elsewhere, how's it working?

    If you want to drive some more traffic your way, putting out that you’re in favor of preemptively defederating Meta might be an idea, seeing as lemmy.world so far has seemed to be very reluctant to take a stance.

    If the community is run by a proven squatter who is inactive I believe the admins can be contacted to transfer control.
