According to the blog, they want to be in on the RISC-V space early; advertising their IP as approachable to RISC-V chip designers.

With their GPU having true FOSS drivers now, I could actually see that happen.

Please tell us the complete chain of active network components between your device and the server.

I.e. Device -> Wifi -> Access Point -> Switch -> Server

@Atemu@lemmy.ml avatar

This is not something mods can do. They can only remove posts entirely, not censor or edit them.

Their FOSS efforts are Rogue GPUs only atm. They way they’re doing it is applaudable though.

Atemu , to linux in What microphone are you using for Linux?
@Atemu@lemmy.ml avatar

A cheap XLR one; Behringer C2 IIRC.

Mic isn’t as important as the interface though.
I can highly recommend the MOTU M2 for that. The noise floor is very very low and it’s not nearly as expensive as interfaces with comparable performance.

It can also serve as a very good DAC/AMP for almost all high-end headphones. It’d only struggle with extremely inefficient headphones and for those you can always get another AMP and connect that to the interface; using it as a DAC.

You don’t need a distributed untrusted consensus algo for internal ledgers. That’s trusted parties only.

Hello there browser which already implemented DRM similar to this a while ago!

Not directly but this could be an antitrust case in some places.

Atemu , to technology in Google engineers want to make ad-blocking (near) impossible
@Atemu@lemmy.ml avatar

The browser could just refuse to attest if you’ve got an ad blocker enabled. That’s the whole point of this.

@Atemu@lemmy.ml avatar

I fail to see how the engineers building the technical side of this are relevant to this case. It’s not their decision to put this into Chromium or not.

Atemu , to worldnews in FCC chair: Speed standard of 25Mbps down, 3Mbps up isn’t good enough anymore
@Atemu@lemmy.ml avatar

Depends on the quality. YouTube 4k is about 25mbit/s, so that’s 3-4 4k YouTube videos playing at the same time on a 100Mb/s connection.

4k Blu-Rays OTOH can be about 50GB or larger even. You wouldn’t ordinarily stream that but you could stream one or two blu-rays with a 100Mb/s connection.

100Mbit/s is plenty for current use-cases.

IANAL.

I don’t think gdpr is required when it’s not a company running the instances?

Depends on whether your thing is intended for public or private use. If it’s just a static website to share files with friends and family or a chat service for a similarly limited group, then no, the GDPR does not apply.

Most popular Fediverse instances are clearly made for public use however.

if an instance is hosted in America, does it still apply

As long as it processes data of EU citizens, the GDPR applies. Whether the EU is able to enforce it is a different question.
