Anoril ,

Why would they need to make games when they can just sit on their ass and because of steam monopoly on games storefronts they would still be paid?

“As for not listening to TF2 players, I’m pretty sure the game is still pretty popular so they must be doing something right.”

Like what? They arent doing anything but release workshop cosmetics lol. Did they even fixed the bot problem after all this time?

Anoril , (edited )

Yeah, because pirates never steal from indie developers and act like assholes if those developers ask not to do it. Those damn parasites asking to be paid for work, gee.

Anoril ,

Okay, lets see some critically aclaimed indie game(undertale), as indie game undoubtly deserving to be bought, and compare it to AAA game series released the same year which deserves to be pirated, according to community. I will use call of duty because its the type of game series i see often said to be the reason to pirate by thiefs: AAA, high price, every year title, shitty studio.

I use very popular local torrent website, as i dont want to search what is the current most used worldwide website for it, and if it tracks number of downloads.

Undertale(2015)-51k downloads.

CoD black ops 3(2015)-54k downloads.

So now answer me, why? Is undertale the same quality shit as call of duty? Or is it even worse considering that it is way less popular, so in corelation of pirated copes divided by copies bought, more people prefered to buy CoD?

Anoril ,

Okay, fallout 4-45k.

64k if you count the second torrent on the list separatelly (undertale would be 67k in that case).

Anoril ,

Still better than your argument, or rather, lack of it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Anoril , (edited )

Oh wow, your anecdotic evidence taken out of the ass, without any stat how many people actually do it to back it up, so it means nothing, really blown up my brain, good job. :)

Ironic that you are talking about stupidity lol.

Anoril ,

Another answered the same, so i got an example of fallout 4 with 45k downloads

Anoril ,

All that hubris while providing 0 statistics themself.

Ah, typical thief jerker, almost as if fresh from reddit :)

Anoril ,

I would’ve linked website if it wouldnt get me banned. Idk, maybe i can link it in pm, not sure if there are rules against it.

Regarding outliers/variation/sample:are you saying that if i would do the same experiment i wouldnt see the same picture for other critically aclamed titles (idk, celeste, StS, etc.)?

Its just funny that pirates keep saying that they steal games to stick out to greedy companies and to punish them for making bad games. Yet when you point out that they steal good indie games just as much (or even more if you take into account overall sales of those games) all you get is insults.

Anoril ,

Yep. Im ok with people pirating stuff. There is different shit happening in live. Just steal what you need and move on without making it bigger than it needs to be.

But acting like you isnt leeching of others people work, like you are doing a honourable thing and the only ones against it are greedy corporations is fucking cringe. And then there is also people who make it into their personality lol.

Anoril ,

Its funny that people like you believe in this bullshit, and then shit on russians for believing in propoganda as if you dont do the same :)

Anoril , (edited )

Thats because some anti-war people have unrealistic expectations to what they consider support. Not enough to just not like it. Anything less then beaten up by police and lost yout job on protest is not enough. Hell, before Navalny got to prison there were rumours, every now and then, that he is kremlin project to divide opposition, so the barrier to count as antiwar could be even “actively tortured in prison” for some.

When in reality 75% of the population dont give a fuck and wont care both if putin conquers europe or if they are separated from moscow by 4 new country borders.

With all this talk about sync's pricing...

I think now is a great time to remind everyone, like sync’s developer, Lemmy’s developers need to be paid too! The amount of time all the devs put into making lemmy exist, in my opinion, should be worth some of your money. If you can afford it, donating to the people who develop lemmy and/or the people keeping your home...

Anoril ,

“Supporting creators is fine, but supporting them more is so stupid”

Ok LUL.

Anoril ,

Subs are kinda like tip, except you get something in return. Usually its emotes you can use on any stream on twitch. Some streamers can make other stuff like sub only discord channel but its optional.

Gift subs are exactly the same except you give the benefits to some other chaters.

Anoril ,

Well then they probably should’ve said that instead of saying something unrelated to the point ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Anoril ,

Whole idea is weird and as of now its lacking features. Like no ability to look on the other instance local feed without registrating there (at least not in apps i use). Also needing to type whole adress with instance name if you want some community from other instance is unhandy.

Also, as far as i understand, there can be the same communities on different instances, so you could subscribe to, idk, cat community on lemmy.ml, but not see anything from cat community on lemmy.world. If its true its kinda stupid, i think there should be a way to associate comunities across fedarated instances.

Hell, even registration is kinda messed up. As lemmy.world shown, you easilly can sign up on overpopulated instances which would drop several times a day. Not sure, it probably fixed for now, but that was a problem when i started.

So far i like the idea and want it to succeed and become popular. But with how elitist people here are usually towards users from other platforms and with overall roughness it kinda seems unlikelly. Maybe it will change when current apps get better, or reddit app developers make versions for lemmy, idk.

Anoril ,

Tbh if google suffers catastrophic failure my passwords probably gonna be pretty far in the list i need to worry about lol.

Anoril ,

No, i mean not all, but local from other instances. I dont remember why i needed it, probably discussion of more specialised instances out there. Most down to earth example i can imagine now would probably be trying to find instance on your local language (other than english, ofc).

Anoril ,

Yeah, probably. Still hope it will be an option in the future. I think the biggest jump in popularity gonna heppen when there is gonna be more developed apps for browsing it, considering that some QoL problems could be fixed by those developers.

Anoril ,

It wont help a ton of businises, banks, and government stuff relying on google in varying capacity to work lol.

Anoril ,

Not really? If would be the same but called “not enough instances” if i understand correctly.
