When pedestrian "desire lines" are your intended cycle lane.

UC Davis has a number of very bad cycle infrastructure designs and this is one of the newest. Only a couple years old. Clearly the tour groups going through don't like the quality of the sidewalks, so they're on the kermit.

We have a million dollar tiled-and-bricked-in “bike path” near my house that is never clear of pedestrians

It’s really a sculpted excuse for terrifically expensive on-street car parking, wrapped with a “separated bike path“ at-grade with a narrowed sidewalk

So people walk on the million dollar bike path. And I get yelled at for riding in the street so I don’t hit them

Elijah Wald’s How the Beatles Destroyed Rock ‘n’ Roll (2011) had me tracking down records for years

Can I respond sort of self-servingly about my own #AccordionRevolution book?

People have asked me to make playlists, but most of the historical recordings in my book aren’t available on Spotify

Collectors sometimes post records by #accordion players on YouTube, so I guess that’d be the best we can do

But not very satisfying

I hate when media does inspiration porn stories in general, but particularly when:

• They let a newly disabled person with tons of internalized ableism become "the voice of disabled people"

and

• When that "success story" clearly came from access to therapeutic supports the average person doesn't have, yet now everyone who doesn't meet their standard of recovery "must not be trying hard enough". #Ableism @disability

Can you participate in a thought experiment with me? The posts warning about fascism are good, but I'm wondering what you think fascism actually looks like. Give a thought, and list what it looks like. Don't just say "the end of democracy." List what the concrete changes will be and make it local. "In my town/city/county/state the following will happen......" Think about it before replying. Not just for #BlackMastodon .

I was thinking of communities I’ve lived in in in the US. And friends there

Not sure all of Canada has gotten there yet. Plus way less gun culture here

In Vancouver where I live we’ll continue to see “social cleansing” of homeless and poor people, which could involve murders if it comes to that, but again, there’s so much less gun violence here

The elimination of political rivals would be a step up from that maybe
