Neat Nick’s Big Mess is an adorable picture book focusing on OCD and anxiety.
Chad Otis’ illustrations and story are charming and warm. I just fell in love with this friendly big dog. It is a wonderful story full of love and friendship that young readers, especially dog lovers, will adore !

But one day people will hear that Floridians removed dictionaries from school libraries for the sake of modesty, or prudery, or protecting the children, and wonder whether it's a myth. The truth will be out there, but not in Florida libraries.
Sometimes censorship is so inane that it looks like self-parody.
A world where we only have #books that everyone approves is a world where we have no books at all. We need to trust professional librarians to make the best decisions, even when we don't always agree.

This year Goodreads has removed all children's books categories from their Goodreads Choice Awards, meaning no more #MG or #PB categories. Worse, Graphic Novel & Poetry, have also been eliminated.

Today is the last day of the Dutch Children's Book Week. Every year you can get a free children's book if you spend a certain amount of money on children's books during that week. A while ago I found this Children's Book Week book from 1986 at the thrift store and I figured now was a good time to read it. It's a mixed-media mystery that makes me wish the Book Week gifts wouldn't have such a strict format these days and I can definitely imagine that it could make children excited about reading.

The Witch Boy trilogy by Molly Knox Ostertag is a fun graphic novel series about a boy witch in a family where only girls can be witches. This picture book is truly gorgeous : based on the true story of Mildred, Harriet, Brenda, and Wilma Moody, this non fiction book shows the incredible work realized by the sisters in Southern California in the 30s.
I saw some of his art online and thought it looked like “Invisible Hands” from Liquid Television, which I LOVED. Same artist! This didn’t have quite the same level of twisted, creepiness as that animated series, but I was so happy to find his work in comic form. There’s more too.
A retelling of a Tyrolean folk tale. So sweet! Both the story and the illustrations. I love his art style.
Before making this, Klassen revisited the book where he first encountered the folk tale and the ending was totally different from what he recalled. This version is what he remembered.
