This is the Roundhouse. It was built in 1969. I always thought it was kind of ugly, but it tried to be different and I can respect that. I used to visit various friends here, and I always wanted to jump off the balconies, so I finally wrote a fight scene set here in Old Time Religion.

PSA: pirating site giving away indie and self published books and asking for "donations". They even have a "mission" statement twisting Gaiman's position against DRM to justify pirating thousands of books

If your books are on kindle unlimited, amazon can ding YOU if anyone finds them elsewhere, including pirating sites.

Writers! Where/how did you find & hire your editors (for any kind of editing)? Or if you're looking for one, where/how are you searching? And what's your genre? I'm curious about how your real experiences line up with how editors talk about marketing and visibility. Thanks 💖
The holidays are stressful. Treat yourself to a book with a happy ending. Sam and Ulysses meet in September, fight evil together all autumn, and face off against a god in late December, so this is the perfect time of year to read it. Plus, you'll be ready for the sequel in January.
ICYMI: @victoriastrauss post on SFWA comments to the US Copyright office on the matter of granting copyright to works created using artificial intelligence; as Ms Strauss notes, this applies to all writers of any genre.

@bookstodon, it’s the #FediBookFair all this weekend. Follow the hashtag to see book and book-related posts from lots of authors (or, of course, filter the hashtag if that’s not your thing).
Thanks to our host @AuthorHelp for organising and inviting Masto writers and readers to take part.
I’ll be joining in with a series of posts about my own books over Saturday and Sunday afternoon/evening on the Western Australian time zone.
I write fantasy romance or romantic fantasy or romantasy (not my favourite portmanteau), but not the epic “Booktok made me buy it” category you’re probably thinking of now, more towards the everyday-people-and-their-localised-problems light and cosy end of the spectrum, but with darkness and complexity, so not that cosy!
Yep, I have trouble pinpointing my own genre, but I guarantee found family, repartee, and happy, hopeful endings, and I usually have older (non-teen at least) protagonists and LGBT+ rep as well.
All are available through your favourite ebookstore, or on Kobo Plus or Everand (Scribd) subscriptions. I hope to offer them in print next year.
You can find out more about them on the FediBookFair hashtag over the weekend, or avoid the cursed delay of gratification by visiting my website.
Note (regarding the rewards of delay of gratification) that I will be offering some promotions for some of the books, but only on Smashwords.
FCC to restore #NetNeutrality and also, hey, to protect our online activity from scrapping--be it for #ArtificialIntelligence training without our consent, or for even more nefarious purposes.
When the public comment period opens, for your own interest, comment--the vultures will, by the thousands, using bots/AI, so we need to show up and make sure our voices are heard, and our interests protected.
I know it's super tempting, especially when you barely make any money off your art, but please realize that in the long run, you'd be eliminating your own role: if #AI "can narrate it" there's no reason why it couldn't "write it".
And yes, this also goes for covers; you can't draw the line at screwing over other creators.
