Terry Pratchett: Since evil is so clearly built into the fabric of reality, if a supreme being exists it is incumbent on us to be his moral superior.

Me: Fortunately, this is not difficult.

Headology:

“That’s right,” said Granny. “It’s called headology.” She tapped her silver hair, which was drawn into a tight bun that could crack rocks.

Hello all! I read a piece indicating there's an audience for political rants, and I do have a distinct take on that stuff. In my first post, I talk about the way the spook agencies shape the narrative by controlling the entertainment. Richard Pryor and Bill Hicks got induced cancer, Eddie Murphy had to stop being smart in public, and Bill Cosby got a voice because he validated white racism.

Oooh, tough choice, but more likely I kidnapped myself so I could meet one of them... but I still can't choose just one 😂

I just found out that Humble Bundle has a book bundle for Terry Pratchett's Discworld. A 39 book bundle that is redeemed through Kobo.com.

Edit: Only available in the US.

There's a bundle for sale at https://www.humblebundle.com/books/terry-pratchetts-discworld-harpercollins-books
$18 minimum for 38 books

I think this would be a great buy for someone looking to get into Discworld, with a few caveats:

  • They are Kobo DRM'd eBooks so you can't read them on a non-Kobo eReader without stripping off the DRM
  • It's not a complete set (but it's close, I think they are only missing 3 of the main novels)

Mort is a funny, heartwarming introduction to Death, one of the major Discworld characters. It starts off with Death deciding to take on an apprentice, Mort. Turns out, Death loves curry, has an adopted daughter, Ysabell, and gets REALLY UPSET and VERY ANGRY indeed when people harm or kill cats and kittens. And he rides a horse who is most adorably named Binky.

Truth is that there is always some form of repression, or enforced conformity exercised by people with power over those under their control
.because their way is the only way and anything else is intolerable. And to break out of this would entail a lot of pain and a whole lot of courage.

So true, Death. There's no cosmic justice, karma, or even any logic behind the “WHY”, even though it might be a bit reassuring to think along those lines.
