I would say that it’s good for very experienced users. Software is immature, the experience is far from an Android phone. Also specs not quite good (because no one buy will buy an expensive GNU/Linux phone). But I think it’s the most powerful phone (if we talking about Pro version) that can run mainline kernel and have all hardware working. Also see !linuxphones
I wouldn’t either, but you see the sentiment especially among the !linuxphones crowd. The fact that Android is Linux is significant because it does in fact allow you to run so-called “Linux apps” (either under Termux or under a dedicated chroot set up by something like UserLAnd) and that is something to be lauded. Android has problems but not being “real Linux” is not among them.
Today 10 years ago I went to Poland to buy a Phone with pre installed #Firefox OS on. The Phone was a Alcatel One, so very shitty. Two years later I installed Firefox OS on my Nexus 5 instead....
See @linuxphones. I have PP and PPP. I run ArchLinux. PP is slow, but the battery lasts a bit better then PPP. PPP is more powerful, but CPU is too hungry and the phone heats a lot. If you need long battery life or you type a lot, then buy with the Pine keyboard. It’s chunky and have some quality issues, but I would say it worth it. Software currently immature. I would recommend buying only if you are a very experienced user.
