Obviously any and all outside support for either is completely due to complex and additional ulterior motives… but even knowing that, I’m sick of my taxes being used like they are and I find myself in agreement with this fucker…
What moment did we stray from a reasonable timeline
It was never a reasonable timeline. Modern history is essentially the present population waking up to the crimes of past (and present) generations, including their direct ancestors.
Israel was created by colonial states committing colonial-minded crimes, during the near-total collapse of colonialism immediately following WW2. England had assumed control of “Mandatory Palestine” after the Ottoman Empire fell with WW1. Through the League of Nations — dominated by colonial powers, like the UN is to this day — they essentially annexed land they had no legitimate ownership of, denying the population of Palestine their basic human rights to democracy and self determination, and gifted it to millions of refugees who were not even born in that location, and held no reasonable claim to that land (beyond ancestry from hundreds/thousands of years ago, that never made up more than a minority of the people who lived there).
It would make more sense, and be more logically and legally justifiable, to give the USA, Canada, and Australia to their indigenous populations in 2024 — who 100% owned those lands up until the last few hundred years — than to give Palestine to the Jewish population in 1946.
Similar crimes happened in South East Asia and Africa post-WW2. For example France trying to militarily reclaim Laos and Vietnam (backed by the USA). Both the Vietnam war and Cambodian genocide may have never occurred if those countries were allowed to implement legitimate democracy.
I think it’s 90% performative and 10% “we want to do something but don’t have the resources”. I imagine Palestine is a really hot topic among Muslim-majority countries, and as such ignoring Palestine would be a bit like if the US suddenly stopped pretending to care caring about Freedom^TM^.
Because of the lack of right of return.
That, and once Turkey accepts them, then what? It's a net negative for Turkey. More refugee mouths to feed that they can't patriate as citizens. And ones that can't return to where they're from.
I'm saying this as a Palestinian who grew up outside of Palestine, none of us have any right of return. That goes for all who leave now too.
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !amarequests
I'm exhausted enough having to explain things to my friends and educate them, combatting western media narratives in real time, let alone strangers on the internet.
When ever you are ready. I always leave questions for people to answer. But whenever you are ready I have so many questions besides the small amount I posted. Also thank you just for being awesome…no sarcasm.
Not trying to push you into doing anything you aren’t comfortable with, but a lot of people could really benefit from having a real source get info on this from. I know it’s not your responsibility to educate us, nor are your opinions necessarily representative of everybody in Palestine, but most people just believe whatever they see on mainstream media. And generally, that means bullshit like fox news way more than Al Jazeera or BBC or NPR or whoever has the least biased news these days.
If nothing else, please keep educating your friends and anybody else in personal circles. If enough people do that, the info will hopefully trickle out to enough of the rest of us to generate outrage in order to influence real change in terms of support for Palestine. Cheers.
No I mean the US or the useless UN come in with nerses or doctors. I would love to . No like everyone I wish they would end it by now but I get the comeback after octorber… But kind of seems like they want a war on two front where they can defeat Hamas…and Hezbollah to some exxtest .
Why would the US send doctors? They’re actively trying to kill the Palestinians? The UN has sent doctors and nurses, US/Israel has been murdering them. They’ve destroyed most of the hospitals.
Just like we entered Karabakh, just like we entered Libya, we might do similar to them.
Türkiye didn’t “enter” into either of those countries with its own troops. Rather they used Syrian mercs, and provided technical support, including “selling” their drones.
I don’t think what he means is sending in troops in this situation as well. Türkiye (or rather, maybe, Erdoğan’s ruling party) has existing strong ties with both Hamas and Hezbollah.
So my assumption on how this translates would be arms shipments to Lebanon. I don’t think they can get anything in to Gaza. And I don’t think either Lebanon or Palestine would welcome Syrian mercenaries.
The Palestinian resistance groups have been saying very clearly that they welcome support like how Hezbollah, Yemen, Iran, and the Iraqi groups have been providing. But that they do not want other nations sending in troops. That they will be seen as an occupying force and will be treated as one. Though I might be conflating them entering Gaza and West Bank. So maybe the other areas that are “Israel” based on the 1968 maps? Seems like another chance for them to make a stop into PKK areas on the way?
