All the rich folks I know avoid Tesla like the plague because they prefer some level of political ambiguity while driving. Even if they’re driving a $500k Porsche, it doesn’t come with the "this company is proudly run by a right wing asshole everyone has heard of" vibe, just the regular "I’m rich, SEE!" vibe.
It’s different when they’ve been dead for a long time. If we avoided anything that has had connections to the NSDAP, the majority of old German brands would be boycotted.
The rich people I’ve spoken with just don’t think they’re premium enough. It had nothing to do with politics. Most of their politics line up conservative anyway.
I’m actually in the market for a new car, and it’s going to be an EV, but Tesla is not on my short list. (not just because of Musk, also because I think those cars are hideous, and I really dislike how a single iPad is used for everything. I need some physical buttons, especially for the airco unit) Instead I’m looking at the Renault Scenic or the Kia EV3.
If you’re going to pivot your entire personality towards being the biggest cunt possible (starting with calling someone a pedo because he made you look silly and snowballing from there), you can expect consequences eventually.
Even if it’s just being slightly less grotesquely wealthy.
Doesn’t hurt that they are also shit cars made out of melted down plastic from burger king kids meal toys and used dental floss and are prone to bursting into flames after “self driving” into walls or freeway medians.

Really? It’s pa-ywalled, but based on just the title; really?
It’s not the poor reputation Teslas have at being cars? Recalls, performance, ongoing costs, longevity, manufacturing quality…etc. But, it’s X instead?
Unfortunately US Billionaires have a lot of societal impact outside of the US. They don’t care about the arbitrary borders that bound us plebians, they have enough money that the borders functionally don’t exist.
Especially now that a lot of countries are starting to notice the drain on energy networks.
Lmao
But I doubt they’re really “struggling”.
You don’t have to sit there and imagine things, because they are a publicly traded company…
It’s clear Musk’s politics have turned off a ton of potential customers worldwide. Tesla sales are falling off, while eg the Hyundai Ioniq is setting sales records in the US
Tesla’s market share in Europe declined from 27.8% to 19.9% year over year as of this past March. Tesla’s sales in Europe fell 36% while BMW and Volvo had 60% and 70% growth in EV sales over the same period, respectively.
When every other company manufacturing the same thing as you is making massive gains, because the whole market is expanding, and you’re suddenly posting losses, that’s going to raise so questions
LOL, seems like you are only are aware of Tesla losses and try to explain it that it is because a power grid can’t handle it.
In reality it is that Tesla is losing customers which are fleeing to other manufacturers.
As for the energy consumption, for example in California 25% of new car sales are BHEV. Currently electric cars use 1% of the power and the estimates are that by 2035 (when sales of new ICE vehicles will be banned) this will go to 4%.
