Does it taste like a pomegranate? It looks like it would taste like a pomegranate.

wildginger ,

Wheres the seed(s)? Within that center anchor point? Or partitioned somewhere within the segments?

Reminded me of a pomegranate but I’d never seen that fruit before, that’s definitely closer. I imagine they all must have some common ancestor though.

I saw them build this in Oppenheimer

It reminds me of the segments seen in Monstera Deliciosa fruit, except that’s got a long cylindrical shape rather than a spheroid shape that can measure upto 30-40cm long by 10cm wide. Those segments are a pale yellow though, and they taste like banana crossed with pineapple. Kind of looks like a banana x pineapple as well!

Monstera Deliciosa fruit

Is it a delicious monster of a fruit, a delicious fruit for monsters or a fruit for delicious monsters? Inquiring and weird minds want to know!

Looks like an exploding moon in every sci Fi anime

Reminds me a lot like a sugar apple, if it’s anything like that then the flavor is very slight, almost flavorless. A lot like straight unflavored sugar that is significantly less sweet

How does it taste?

Hala fruit, which is eaten exclusively by Pacific Islanders and visitors to the region, is made up of dozens of segments, called keys or cones. The innards of each key are pulpy, while the green outer edge is so fibrous it can be used as dental floss. Islanders chew on the raw fruit, boil it with grated coconut, or grind it into a paste. One taster likened the flavor of fresh hala juice to “a mixture of sugarcane and mango,” with the consistency of thick nectar.

The fruit ferments rapidly, emitting a stench that’s earned it the nickname “stink nut.”

Heh, stink nut.

So a mango durian but less putrid and more… tropical. Interesting.
