Should have hidden a random curse word eight hours in to make sure they were paying attention.

@NewEnglandRedshirt@lemmy.world avatar

If you’re going to go, go hard and just have a brief flash of a porno, maybe 1 or 2 frames long. A random curse word could still be rated PG-13 in the US

NoIWontPickaName ,

Yes sir, Mr. Durden!

overzeetop , (edited ) in TIL that honey never spoils. Archaeologists have found pots of honey in ancient Egyptian tombs that are over 3000 years old and still perfectly edible.
@overzeetop@lemmy.world avatar

Iirc, Constantine was preserved in a giant bay barrel of honey. On learning this, I felt it would have been quite the marketing opportunity to sell off small vials as “A taste of the empire!”

RoyalEngineering ,

A very Ferengi burial practice.

LordOfTheChia ,

I sense a post mortem business opportunity for Belle Delphine.

Hillock , in TIL Disney refused to let a father use a Spiderman headstone for his 4 year old son’s funeral.

I actually agree with that decision. Fuck Disney but if Disney started selling headstones people would be in a uproar over it as well. They would call it inappropriate and everything. And while in this case the stone wouldn't be sold by Disney, the design would still be out of place.

You know... I think you just gave them an idea for merchandising....

this is Disney we're talking about.

the ghouls probably find the graveyard quite homey.

It really is quite interesting

copyright law separates people from their own culture

What a thought provoking comment. You're not wrong..

Onlycats , in TIL Disney refused to let a father use a Spiderman headstone for his 4 year old son’s funeral.
@Onlycats@lemmy.world avatar

I despise Disney but I think this is just a simple corporate copyright law problem. Disney is not gonna give explicit permission to use any of their brands, for anything that is not under a contract. But I don’t think they will go after them if they use it.

The UK rating is U.

No, U!

LateToTheCuttingEdge , in TIL Michigan is the top cherry producing state

Traverse City, up at the tip of the Lower Peninsula, holds a Cherry Fest every year and also produces some of the best wine in the country. The Great Lakes (Lake Michigan in particular) help to moderate temperatures, and we get a good amount of precipitation every year. Our cherries and apples are outstanding.

If you scripted it, sure. But it would suck writing that script.

How is that possible? I can't wrap my head around that

mohKohn ,

too much of anything is bad for life. Sugar water has much the same problem, or extremely salty water. The problem is osmotic pressure.

Roughly, the natural state of things is spread evenly, so all that sugar outside the cell finds its way inside (unless the cell pumps it out). But too much inside the cell can disrupt the other processes of the cell, or even rupture the cell walls.

Iirc,Osmosis, with water rather than sugar, is also the effect that makes your hands prune when they're in water for too long.

ANuStart ,

Wat?
