Every time i use headphones

Rarely, but I like knowing it’s there if my headphones run out of battery and I need to join a meeting or make a call.

bravoseries ,

Still use them. I don’t buy phones without them. And I don’t prefer wireless so…

I use mine. Quite often. Especially for using my nice headphones.

I’ve started using Bluetooth buds for when I’m at the hospital for dialysis because it’s easier without a cable. But the best audio experience I still get with wired.

Also the car has an aux input to play my music on the phone through the car stereo and it needs a jack.

I stopped using wired headphones before I had a device without a headphone jack.

I found the cord infuriating, always seemed to get caught or tangled on things, always making sensitive skin contact (like just beneath my jawline) where I was forever readjusting it and sometimes the cords lifted the headphone out of my ear.

Conversely, I’ve had three pairs of wireless headphones. First pair didn’t like getting christened in the washing machine, second pair is still going strong and third pair are AirPod Pros I bought before a flight for the noise cancellation which are also going strong. Maybe I’ve outsmarted the whole of Apple’s engineering/marketing department but I’ve never felt like the sets I’ve had are underperforming on battery life and have no reason to buy sets to replace the working ones I have. The small conveniences, like not being tethered to my phone and freedom from cords, have absolutely made the change to wireless worth it to me.

The biggest and most obvious downside against wireless headphones is compatibility and price.

DeadMartyr ,

I prefer having a dedicated headphone jack, I dislike wireless devices, heck, my mouse is wired. But my new Android removed it sadly.

The main reason why I’m okay with not having it is because there’s no decent wired headphones, all are either for children or incredibly cheaply-made.

atempuser23 ,

That seems like an odd thing to state. There are lots of wired headphones and ear buds of all prices and styles. Are you only looking in store or also online?

Dragon_Titan , (edited )

Get one thats wireless, and has an aux port. best of both worlds.

There are several premium headphones like that.

DeadMartyr ,

Didn’t realize this was a thing, I’ll look into that

increase the depth of the back of the phone so there is no camera bump. then use the additional volume for more battery and a headphone jack. geez

Chobbes ,

I’m fine without the headphone jack to be honest… I kind of miss it, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t happy with my wireless headphones. But! Just make the phone thicker and get rid of the camera bump! I don’t like camera bumps!

the bumps are insane

Reality_Suit ,

Current phone doesn’t have one, but I loved the LG V30. It had a high end DSP.

Never, Bluetooth adapter in the car, AirPods otherwise. FUCK cords

vaultdweller013 ,

Daily, I drive an 01 cherokee sport base model. This means I have a tape deck and fuck all else.

A_Random_Idiot ,

I use it multiple times a week.

even if I didnt, I still want to have it for when I would have chance/need to use it.

goldenlocks ,

I use it in my car

Floey ,

I use it sometimes, but used it regularly for music until I busted out an old iPod.

melooone ,

I used to use mine pretty regularly for some wired IEM’s and sometimes connecting it to my PC.

But a couple months ago, I put my phone in a bag of silica gel balls to absorb some water after it got wet.

Cannot recommend this to anyone else though… because those balls actually have roughly the same diameter as the headphone jack and one got completely stuck inside, making the port unusable. :(

turn the phone off and try fishing it out with a sewing needle. maybe 2 and try and chop stick it. i got one many out like this, happened to me frequently because i used to work in plastics.

melooone ,

Thanks for the tip! Im gonna buy some needles from the store tomorrow to try it out.

RelentlessArts ,

Don’t have headphone jack but need to use the USB C converter to use audio in my car.
