abc , in I'm unstoppable

That’s why I set a rule to myself to not buy new games until I complete the ones I currently have.

@Sabata11792@kbin.social avatar

I'm well past the point of never getting a new game if I tried this.

abc ,

You don’t have to go through your entire backlog, but you should at least complete the next game you buy.

Botree , in How do I permanently delete Steam Cloud saves for Baldur's Gate 3?
@Botree@lemmy.world avatar

There’s an easy method that someone shared on Reddit 7 years ago which is supposedly still working till this day. To save you from visiting Reddit:

while you are in the game alt+tab and go the save folder of your game -now delete every save file you don’t want -when you are done, close the game -steam will start syncing and delete the files in the cloud as well.

If this doesn’t work, here’s the convoluted method.

Vcio , in What's up with all the $99 games with a 95+% discount on Steam?
@Vcio@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah it’s really annoying, i would like a way to tag and block this kinds of games. One really funny, they would increase the price and the “discount” each week/month.

I have this one from a previous sale. It’s good!

Thanks very much, that’s great to hear.

MrBobs OP , in [Self Promotion] Cat Box Paradox is currently on sale....now only £2.50

Its a retro inspired, colour swapping platformer. Lots of variety and fun to be had.

NightOwl , in How do I cope with the Steam Community?

I enjoyed memes back in the forum days because they weren’t frequent with it being more discussion base, so when they showed up it’d have a tendency to actually be funny. But, move towards generating meme content quickly diluted the experience of memes with forcing of memes.

sproid , in What do you think of this prediction?

That post is pure hysteria. First no one knows when Gabe is going to die, and even if he live very long he may step down due to old age still.

  • also worrying so much about something that may happen 14 years later according to op is unnecessary and distorted thinking.
  • why assume there is going to be a power vacuum? can’t he and his leadership make pans of succession?
  • then believing a whole made-up story going down the rabbit hole of the worst case scenario is again unnecessary and distorted thinking. Is okay to think of worst case scenarios but to take them as if they were real is gifting ourselves anxiety for free.
  • in any case, the mental exercise of thinking of some undesirable possibilities allow us to take precautions and prepare to the extend that is appropriate and reachable. Which would be the most efficient behavior that thwarts “actual fear” as OP writes it.
EnderMB , in What do you think of this prediction?

The direct transfer of power in tech is often to someone that will carry the torch. It’s quite rare that a successor is picked that has been at the company for years, but wants to change practically everything about it. For that reason, I can see Gabe passing to a like-minded person that already knows that they are a succession candidate.

But ultimately none of us know Gabe, or what he plans to do. He may have a 100 step plan to secede power, or he might get to 65, say “that’ll do” and just sell up and retire to a remote island somewhere. The plans might have been in place for years, or he might not want to consider Valve without him. Hell, he might not even think that Valve should exist without him. It’s impossible to guess, so it’s not worth worrying about…

hglman ,

It seems worth worrying about if only to try and make valve think about the future.

Lets_Eat_Grandma ,

Remember when google didn’t do evil? Remember when they were hip, cool and not the living nightmare of a corporation we see of them today?

EnderMB ,

That was two CEO’s in. Google under Sundar is very different to Google under Page.

elauso ,

So this really doesn’t alleviate any concerns for Steam. They too might be just 2 CEO changes away from sending their users to hell.

AnarchoNoAdjective , in Ability to view new releases by date (not "New & Trending" and news/update subscription for non-owned games

for question 2, there is a recently updated section somewhere try this link store.steampowered.com/updated/all/

Thank you so much!

Perfect solution for Q1!

For Q2, does anyone have any thoughts about filtering all updates either by tag or by a specific game list?

Dymonika , in How do I schedule a steam download manually?

AutoHotkey’s https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/v2/lib/MouseClickDrag.htm with a between-times check are what comes to mind. As a warning, this could be very painful to set up lol (as in, expect lots of trial-&-error).

Steam itself doesn’t appear capable of setting such an automated restriction, as far as I know.
