I’m running internet to an out building 550’ from the main house. I’m going to trench an run conduit with pull strings and fiber. Do I just get regular multi it mode with sfp+ connectors on either end? Will my normal 10g switches be fine? Anything else I need to think about?

Why happen if I store pirated content inside my VPS? I think the answer is pretty obvious, in their TOS should say that if I do that they will BAN me without warning, but can they detect the files? Or worse, what if I download directly into the VPS with torrent or Jdownloader?...

Previously using 2 synology devices - one at my home location for NAS duties and another at a remote location for an off-site backup destination. I had a small army of nucs doing various hosting things. This worked well. But as many who self host can appreciate - just because it works doesn’t mean you can’t burn it all down...

I’m in the process of re-configuring my home lab and would like to get some help figuring out log collection. My setup was a hodgepodge of systems/OSes using rsyslog to send syslogs to a syslog listener on my qnap but that’s not going to work anymore (partly because the qnap is gone)....
