I recently started using Kodi for my linux distro collection, but some videos look terrible in comparison to when played in VLC. See attached picture with screengrabs from VLC and Kodi of the same frame in an MKV 1080p h.265 file. What could be the issue? I didn’t change any video settings in either

I have recently setup a system with TrueNAS scale and while it’s been mostly smooth sailing (lies), I can’t figure out why TrueNAS itself cannot connect to virtual machines and vice versa, which kinda sucks for me as I have a wireguard server setup on a virtual machine, which works but clients connecting to it cannot connect...

Do any of you self-host Overleaf? I know there is a Docker project, but from what I’ve heard it’s not easy to install. The Yunohost version used to work but didn’t support file upload, so that makes it bad too....
This is a honest question. I have two RSS services hosted on my server, and I don’t see the point. RSS is by nature distributed, and subscribing to my own server just makes the source of all news being the same. What is the advantage? What do people use it for?

Hello all, The first thing I setup to self-host was NextCloud, and I followed instructions and built the stack directly on the host computer. It’s hosted on port 80, and I created a Cloudflare tunnel from “cloud.mydomain.com” which points to 192.168.1.111 and everything works perfectly. I can access the site from wherever,...

Hi, I have a bunch of Raspberry Pies hosting all kinds of stuff and I want to have a monitoring solution for all of that. What would be your recommendations?...
Since switching to Proxmox I’ve noticed an issue with intermittent network connectivity on my VMs. I’ve narrowed it down to the realtek based PCI NIC (Rosewill RNG-407-Dualv2) I currently have installed. Basically when I see a ton of these in my syslog:...

I started using miniflux a while back, and enjoy it. Recently I also gave News app on F-droid a try, and the combination of the two is one of the best news reading experiences I’ve had....

Hi everyone, I was perusing through Conjur and Vault documentation, since I’m starting to think that learning a secret-management system might be a worthwhile investment with the app secrets and SSH keys and CA certificates around....
I’m going to start off but saying I know that self-hosting email can be a bad idea. That being said, I’m trying to de-googlfy my life and would like to experiment....
I’m a retired Unix admin. It was my job from the early '90s until the mid '10s. I’ve kept somewhat current ever since by running various machines at home. So far I’ve managed to avoid using Docker at home even though I have a decent understanding of how it works - I stopped being a sysadmin in the mid '10s, I still worked...
