Problem: I scroll on lemmy, I talk to friends, I see some interesting page, project, funny meme or something else. (when I was on reddit i pressed SAVE, when I was on Instagram I pressed PIN (or something) and now I’m stuck with (uncategorised) information all over the place....
Hi y’all. I’ve got an Intel Nuc 10 here. I want to run a few apps on it, like BitWarden, PiHole, NextCloud, Wireguard, and maybe more, just for my own use, inside my home....
Opening your router to the Internet is risky. Are there any guides for the basics to keep things secure? Things like setting up fail2ban? My concern is that I’ll forget something obvious....
tup proxies services on the local network to a remote gateway, all traffic between the remote server and the service on the local network is sent through a wireguard tunnel...
Hi guys! So, I have Proton Mail, and this also gives me the Calendar. I love that I have a encrypted private calendar, but it bothers me that it doesn’t play well with any other app, as it’s not officially a “calendar” to Android. This bothers me, because I use GrapheneOS, with mostly no Google services, and I’d like...
I have several years of Linux experience and I know how to fix my own problems, and I have experience self-hosting using Docker and Docker Compose, but I really feel that I don’t know how to self-host and that I just copy and paste commands without understanding it, I would really like to learn how to self-host by myself but I...
So…in a short sentence…the title. I have a server in a remote location which also happens to be under CGNAT. I only get to visit this location once a year at best, so if anything goes off…It stays off for the rest of that year until I can go and troubleshoot. I have a main location/home where everything works, I get a...
This is my new favorite thing. I don’t have a CRT to display this on, but I’ll settle for an old 4:3 LCD monitor I have sitting on a shelf in the basement - it’s old and blurry enough to be a reasonable facsimile....
I host a few docker containers and use nginx proxy manager to access them externally since I like to have access away from home. Most of them have some sort of login system but there are a few examples where there isn’t so I currently don’t publicly expose them. I would ideally like to be able to use totp for this as well.
What do you guys use to expose private IP addresses to the web? I was using the npm proxy manager with Cloudflare CDN. However, it stopped working after I changed my router (I keep getting error 521). Looking for an alternative to Cloudflare cdn so I can access my media server/self-hosted services away from LAN....
I think of myself as technically inclined. I have installed Linux multiple times and have basic command line knowledge, and I’ve programmed in many languages, with the most experience making a static website game using HTML/CSS/JS....
A beautiful RSS client finally adds support FreshRSS, my self hosted RSS aggregator of choice, and also for the gReader API that plenty of other services use. The dev notes however that at this time Inoreader is not supported via gReader API.
So for the past few years (?) I have been using wireguard to vpn into (effectively) my firewall and a dynamic dns setup to access that remotely. But with the shitshow that is google domains and the like, this seems like a good opportunity to look into a few of the alternatives. I am not entirely opposed to just going in and...
Hello everybody! I just learned that I can get a free .eu.org domain, but I’m not sure I understand the domain creation process. Any of you has one?...
I’m wondering if anyone is aware of a tool that could work as an internet connected dementia clock - that is displaying the time, time of day, date, and the ability to update the display remotely with reminders, notes, and messages....
