I’ve had a home server for years, at first using Windows Server, then Unraid, and now using Ubuntu server. I’ve long known that I should keep a close eye on my spinning rust, but I never really knew the best way to have that monitoring quietly automated in the background, only sending me a message when something bad shows...
I’m looking to replace the log book at work. I thought somebody must have made a simple docker container that allows someone to put in entries into a database for things like daily activities, guest logs, maybe even tracking fuel deliveries. Is there anything out there or and I going to need to remember how to make websites?...
Due to difficulties I had installing Piped, an alternative frontend for Youtube, I decided to improve and document the process in a better way. In the end, I pretty much redid the whole thing, leaving almost no stone un-turned. You can test my installer from my repo and post any comments and doubts here.
I am very new to self-hosting and Lemmy and the Fediverse so it’s entirely possible I’m missing something simple here. I have spun up my own Lemmy instance and have added lemmy.world to the Allowed Instances. For some reason, I’ve stopped getting content from lemmy.world communities and I am getting a lot of logs saying...
I built a simple node js/docker app that uses the unofficial api to fetch photos in a selected timeframe, then send an email with working web links to those photos....
Looking at products like Gryphon or Circle, I feel like this should be pretty easy to do self-hosted. It’s just firewall rules right? Anyone know of a good open source/self-host product I can do this? A phone app is not a requirement. A web interface is fine....
I’m looking for a suggestion for compact-ish NAS cases. I only have a few drives, 4 at the moment, so I don’t need a ton of space. But I’d like to downsize without getting a brand new motherboard and PSU it possible (both are ATX at the moment)....
Hey! Long story short, I’m interested in Self hosting stuff and want to wet my feet a bit with a spare laptop I have. The main nvme drive is used by windows 10, and it has a 250 Go SD card....
I would like to stand up some self hosted applications that need a significant amount of storage behind them. I’m thinking pixelfed/immich and peertube for now. The intention is to provide a place for my family to store and share photos and videos in an easily accessible place. I would also like to load it up with a long...
Hi all! My friends and I are hoping to continue writing and recording music though we live very far apart now. We all use MacBooks for recording tracks, and I was curious if anyone has a good way to share/sync our recordings with each other....
I have all my services running locally on a 192.168.10.x subdomain. Many are docker containers but some (like gitlab) are proxmox vms. Everything is behind a reverse proxy so I can access services through a url like paperless.mydomaon.com. the reverse proxy automatically pulls certs as needed....
So I selfhost Vaultwarden which allows TOTP but I like to keep my 2FA and Password Manager separate, so I’m looking for something like Vaultwarden which can sync up with my server, but for 2FA only. I came across 2FAuth which can do it, but it only has webapp, so if a Alternative Service where there is a client for iOS and...
The recent post about what people are using for webmail got me thinking about a perhaps irrational policy I have with my own self-hosted software: I don’t install anything written in PHP, because I have this vague notion that PHP software is often insecure. I think I probably got this idea because years ago I saw all the...
So I'm in the process of (re-) setting up my homelab and unsure about how to handle databases. Many images require a database, which the docker-compose usually provides inside the stack....
I am in self hosting for a bit now, have an unraid server and a bunch of services running. Now I want to expose some services through a reverse proxy, but with authentication, preferably google oauth2. I’ve tried a lot of things, Authentik, Authelia, NPM, and so on. I found everything way to complicated. What I liked the most...
I reside in an apartment complex where the internet services are not controlled by the management, but instead, they are managed by our ISP, Telcom. Unfortunately, Telcom restricts certain functionalities for users, such as not helping with the opening of ports or providing the admin username/password for my router....
Hey, I’m wondering what everyone’s solution is for self hosted “cloud” storage of photos? I’ve been running a PhotoPrism server on my Synology for a while but it’s missing some features I’d like to have. While we’ve set up auto-uploading from different phones to the web server, I haven’t found an easy way to...
Hi All. I have been running my own lemmy instance for a while now. I set it up sort of as an experiment, and then I realized that I liked having my own instance, as it makes me (mostly) immune to outages due to things outside my control, defederation drama, etc. So I decided that I am going to stick with having my own instance....
For me, it was PhotoPrism. I used to be an idiot, and used Google Photos as my gallery. I knew that it was terrible for privacy but was too lazy to do anything about it. When Google limited storage for free accounts, I started looking for alternatives. Tried out a lot of stuff, but ended up settling on PhotoPrism....
