I've been using a cloud hosting provider under sync.com, great for actively syncing my files between machines I might be using as well if I wished to have any employees's later on as I was paying close to £30 a month I decided that it was best to self-host my files even if it was just by 10TB Hard Drives that only cost £200...

Well, that didn’t take very long at all! As with almost everything, the cloud seems appealing, and then slowly increased in price while the service gets reduced

I’m writing my own novice guide to setting up a home server, the stuff I wish I’d been told when I started. Would love feedback from beginners on how useful this is, as well as feedback from veteran self-hosters on how accurate this is, and I welcome suggestions from anyone about what I should add next....

Hi selfhosted, I made a short tutorial for anyone who might want to dive into arr selfhosted software but dont know where to start. I did it on my RPI but docker config will work in any docker friendly environment so adjust it to your scenerio. I will gladly discuss that topic so fell free to talk.

Updated my self-hosting tutorial based on suggestions from last time. The biggest change is the new chapter on network security. If anyone out there is a security nerd I’d love your feedback! I tried to strike a balance between playing it safe and getting something into production.

I would like to REALLY archive some older e-mail-folders. Archive seems not to be the right word, because i work with empty inboxes, so every completed or answered e-mail is still archived in a folder (with the name of the year), but i use IMAP so all archived emails are still on the server....

Due to difficulties I had installing Piped, an alternative frontend for Youtube, I decided to improve and document the process in a better way. In the end, I pretty much redid the whole thing, leaving almost no stone un-turned. You can test my installer from my repo and post any comments and doubts here.

I tried to delete and recreate the container, but there’s still this insane power consumption....
