I can't hear the konami code without hearing this song. (youtu.be)
It feels like simulations and simulacra; The song was written in nostalgia for a long gone game console, and today I’m listening with nostalgia to a song that’s almost as old now as the game console was then.
LGR: Orpheus II: The Best Retro PC Sound Card in 2023? Perhaps! (www.youtube.com)
From PCMIDI.EU comes the Orpheus 2 – a new 16-bit ISA sound card! Could this be the best one for vintage computers right now? An argument can be made for that I think. On-board Gravis Ultrasound PnP compatibility, plus all the Orpheus 1 features like Sound Blaster Pro compatibility, Yamaha OPL3, and an intelligent mode...
Showing off my setup (lemmy.world)
Here is where I am at. Live in an apartment so space is tight and needed everything to be able to move into the closet. I’ve got SNES, N64, Wii mini, Sega Genesis, PS2, a vcr, receiver and stereo speakers, Extron switcher, and playing them all on a Sony PVM14L5. The rack is from Amazon and most are hooked up via RGB.

Is this the golden age to purchase Xbox 360 games?
I recently got an Xbox Series X, and naturally I wanted to go back and enjoy some of the 360 titles that I played as a teen. For once, I feel like I did not miss the boat on buying these games at a decent price. Everybody talks about how cheap SNES and N64 carts used to be, but I wasn’t into retro gaming then, so all I’ve...

is there a community like r/consolerepairs in the federverse?
I am looking for a console repair community. I didn’t see one when I searched “all” communities on lemmy.world. But I’m new here and didn’t want to reduplicate a community that already exists perhaps under a different name?

Vintage game animations were weirder than you remember (www.youtube.com)
I find there are some retro titles that have been eclipsed by their sequels, what are some that hold up better than their later iterations in your opinion.
My title of choice would probably be Daggerfall because it’s just so ambitious and truly offers an experience none of the other elder scrolls games offer. That being said it is kinda an example of a sequel eclipsing it’s predecessors as well given it is more or less a straight improvement over Arena in every way.

A recent survey, conducted by ExpressVPN, finds that 79% of gamers play retro games (www.expressvpn.com)
Lots of interesting stuff in the article. The part about retro gaming is near the end.
