What Game Boy game do you love that you never hear anyone talk about?
The more rare, obscure, or just a guilty pleasure, the better. Maybe you grew up with it, maybe it’s just the nostalgia talking, any reason is fine....

I use a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. It does the job for all of the systems I have on Retroarch....
I found a box of CD-Roms and floppy disks in my mum’s basement and damnit, I want to play them! I could use emulators, DosBox or VMs but it’s never quite the same as having the real thing, so between an eBay mobo and a box of old parts I managed to build my new gaming rig to cover 1990-2005....
I just hit 10 hours in Earthbound on my Anbernic RG280V. I’m looking forward to trying some more SNES games once I’m finished (Super Mario World, Street Fighter Turbo II, Zelda: Link to the Past, etc.)....
I don’t see many posts here about the N64 and it doesn’t look like there is an N64 community on lemmy.world It’s the console I have the most nostalgia for and I have over 130 games in my collection. I’m currently playing a ROM hack called SM64: Beyond the Cursed Mirror. It has some pretty challenging platforming but it...
For me, it was the game Rocket Jockey released by Sega Soft in '96. It was perfect. The game featured a surf rock soundtrack by Dick Dale. The entire premise of the game was to ride around on rockets and using long cables to yank your opponents off theirs. Referees were also fair play. I don’t think I’ve met anyone else who...
And what category does the PS2, Wii, Xbox, Nintendo DS/3DS fit into? They aren’t retro, but they’re not really “modern” either...
I could list a bunch of general YTers that cover retro games among other gaming topics, but for those who mainly cover retro games I like Big Ole Words, Hungry Goriya, and Video Works.
Just a random (almost 35 years too late) question because I’ve been replaying SMB2 on the Switch....
I’m looking for recommendations for games to get for my retroid picket 3. I like platfirmers, metroidvania, turn based games and driving games....
when did you get it and why? how often do you use it?...
by far my favorite console of all time since i first got it, i love pretty much everything on it. someone actually ported a game to the gamecube in the modern day (albeit it needs Swiss, a homebrew app to run) and it’s just so cool to see that it refuses to die
So when I was a kid in the 80s, I would always get SUPER excited for getting a new game....
What have you been playing and hows it going? Anything got you stuck? What high score are you going for? is this the first, second, (n+1) play-through?...
So I assume many of us have played some games for the first time long after their release date. Like, maybe you didn’t have a specific console growing up so we didn’t play the “classics” on it, or something....
Stuff that, back when you were in the economic clutches of your parents, you could but dream of having....
As I get older, I find I have no interest in playing the cutesy/silly games that are everywhere on retro consoles (obviously, they were targeted towards kids). But I also don’t have the patience for survival horror games like the resident evil or silent hill series. I’m just looking for a fun spooky game that I can jump into...
A callback to the PS3 early days.
How is it?
Even though we got a computer in the mid to late 90’s, a shitty DOS-box that no-one kind of really knew how to do anything with, I was infinitely interested in anything to do with it. I remember playing Guerrilla Wars and some dungeon crawlers on it and such, but I feel like I almost entirely missed out on text-based games. I...
