julianh , in text.getvariablename().settext("text_variable").settext("some text")

I’ve literally written the line “getComponent<Text>().text = text.text;” for a unity game before.

tyo_ukko , in Can we finally put this one to rest?

One can tell you’re a quality poster for putting a reference to a freaking programming meme. It is an overkill, but a quality overkill.

lowleveldata , in Can we finally put this one to rest?

Why is this its own function in the first place

MrJukes ,
@MrJukes@lemmy.one avatar

We don’t know what the rest of the function looks like or what the inputs are.

lowleveldata ,

How complex can it be when the results are named a and b?

carbonara , in When you say you still code with PHP

Still waiting for anybody to explain me why I shouldn’t write my backend in php

disenchanted ,

Everything works if you know it well enough. But what I remember annoying me with php most was the naming convention mess, array_search, count, strlen, etc.

duncesplayed ,

\except $for $the $annoying $syntax $and $bad $function $naming, $it’s $actually $turned $into $a $fairly $decent $language->

    No C+2 would be C ++ ++ because C++ is C+1

    Not even AI is as fake as the image on the right

    Sanguinius ,

    That’s a real SDI video router using HD-BNC connectors. I worked on rack units with 512 in and outs, this one looks like 256.

    ItsGhost ,
    @ItsGhost@sh.itjust.works avatar

    Having worked on them occasionally was about to confirm that, but somebody gave it more JPEG already and I can’t quite make it out. They do certain look like BNC/some other coaxial connector though and I’ve definitely have to troubleshoot very similar nightmarish setups

    lemann ,

    Thought it was a cisco nexus 9000 but nah that looks like AI 😅 those cables don’t look right to me

    Johandea ,

    That’s balance. Now the right half is just as fake as the proposed origin on the left.

    Meanwhile, in the background the compiler optimizes them all to the same result anyway. :P

    alokir , in object.setobject(object.getobject().object).to_object()

    Wait until you hear about the concept of properties in languages like Javascript, C#, Kotlin and many others.

    relevants ,

    At least for Kotlin it's literally just syntactic sugar for getter and setter methods. I really like them, don't get me wrong, but it's just the bottom approach masquerading as the top approach

    tuto193 , in Can we finally put this one to rest?

    This is missing one at the very top that’s just:

    <pre style="background-color:#ffffff;">
    <span style="color:#323232;">return a < b
    </span>
