Had this question in my mind for a while now, after going through the recent Reddit API drama....

Basic cyber security says that passwords should be encrypted and hashed, so that even the company storing them doesn’t know what the password is. (When you log in, the site performs the same encrypting and hashing steps and compares the results) Otherwise if they are hacked, the attackers get access to all the passwords....

There’s a roundabout I use semi-regularly which I feel has ambiguous lanes....

Obviously, most social networks have some sort of engagement button for liking/up voting/promoting a piece of content. As well as helping users feel like they’re participating, rather than just passively consuming, most networks also use the likes/ups to filter or promote content to other users....

Sometimes I’m at the doctor’s office, at the library, or even at the grocery store and see an unused power outlet. My phone is dying. I feel weird plugging in, but I feel even weirder asking for permission.

I was wondering if anyone is disgusted by the smell of their own product. And I mean hates it like people hate other people’s farts.

I know that Isotonic drinks contain similar concentrations of salt and sugar as in the human body, which makes the drink feel refreshing. Osmosis and so on. Isotonic drinks are not limited to what is branded as sport drinks - a mix of juice and sparkling water can also be isotonic....

I heard that the All feed aggregates content from all communities that instance members have subscribed to, meaning if I subscribe to a new community, it’ll start showing up in everyone else’s All feed....

I used Relay for reddit and would like a app that works similarly....
