Lawrence Summers, Ted Cruz criticize Harvard for student statement blaming Israel

Some of Harvard University’s most prominent political alumni are criticizing the school for not condemning a student-led statement that blamed Israel for the surprise Hamas attack over the weekend.

“The silence from Harvard’s leadership, so far, coupled with a vocal and widely reported student groups’ statement blaming Israel solely, has allowed Harvard to appear at best neutral towards acts of terror against the Jewish state of Israel,” Lawrence Summers, a former Harvard president and longtime Washington economic policy hand, wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Summers, a Democrat who served as Treasury secretary under Bill Clinton, added: “I am sickened. I cannot fathom the Administration’s failure to disassociate the University and condemn this statement.”

In their comments, prominent figures who studied at the university — many of them Republicans — blasted the school for not standing up for Israel. The story made the rounds on Sunday and Monday across a plethora of mostly conservative news sites, picking up the attention of Washington figures like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.)

Fuck Ted Cruz. Now that that’s out there, I’m hesitant to believe that Israel didn’t know anything about it. So you’re telling me that:

a.) Mossad knew absolutely nothing about a potential attack that Egypt says was coming, b.) The Impenetrable Iron Dome just happened to be superty duperty penetrable this time, on this day, c.) That everyone thought it was a swell idea to hold a fucking rave on the border of a hostile group.

That’s a lot of things to just not make sense in one clustetfuck situation. 3rd World Countries can track Hamas with ease - Mossad should be able to do it with their eyes closed. It literally doesn’t make any sense. The only thing that would make sense is if they knew…they knew something was going to happen and were prepared to let it so that they had an excuse to go to war again, but didn’t expect THIS. I don’t know…it’s not like Israel is exactly the wonderful good guy in this situation. Their oppression of Gaza is fucked up.

PhlubbaDubba ,

A is pretty egregious but,

B) the Iron Dome can be overwhelmed by just shooting more rockets into it until there’s too many, something it seems Iran was more than happy to help Hamas arrange.

C) the deserts outside Gaza actually are a popular concert venue for the music scenes on both sides of the border. Gazan artists actually prefer doing concerts out there because of the lowered risk Hamas goons will be able to drag them off stage for stoning if they say something the cretins don’t like.

Alteon ,

Thank you for your response. This is the first time someone has actually taken the time to explain it.

“A” by itself is already questionable. The rest I can understand. Iran supporting Hamas is pretty bad.

Madison420 ,

Agreed.

Sure, it doesn’t seem to have been overwhelmed though, from the videos and photos it just looks gimped.

Compared to youtu.be/dNgx3o_WKxI?si=PtmvEB220LVutjzs≈30sec

As for the concert thing, sure it totally is but it’s still not smart especially when gazan Palestinians routinely get shot by rubber bullets for making too much noise close to the walls. They say because “they’re likely planning something” but fuck off most of them are kids.
