Blinken says US working to verify reports of several Americans dead in Israel

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Sunday the US is “working overtime” to verify reports of missing and dead Americans overseas after Hamas launched an unprecedented attack against Israel.

“We have reports that several Americans were killed. We’re working overtime to verify that. At the same time, there are reports of missing Americans and there again, we’re working to verify those reports,” Blinken told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.”

The large-scale surprise attack by Gaza militants on Israel on Saturday has left hundreds of Israelis dead, prompting vows of retribution from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a lethal volley of retaliatory Israeli airstrikes.

… the Site of a Music Festival for Peace in Southern Israel…

Talk about in the belly of the beast!

I’m pretty sure the “for Peace” part wasn’t actually true and either propaganda or a misunderstanding where someone thought a peaceful music festival meant a music festival raising awareness or money for any part of the peace process. Perhaps it just gave the story some irony that made it more noteworthy. Tbh a music festival for peace just outside of Gaza would seem kind of tone-deaf to me anyway.

From everything I’ve seen when actually looking it was just an all night music festival timed to coincide with Sukkot. Less irony and more like the perfect soft target for this sort of terrorist attack.
