The Roman Catholic Church hierarchy funneled $2 million into entirely unsuccessful efforts to advance discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people in the four marriage ballot states of Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington this election cycle.
