The parent took his children to a dangerous swimming area. He risked his life mitigating the consequences of his decision. Nature fucks up lots of families on vacation.

Once his children’s lives were at risk it doesn’t matter how it happened. A decent human parent’s reaction is automatic and faster than even adrenaline.

He did normal human things in both mistake and remedy. He’s no hero. But, he seems like a person that will be missed.

Yeah after becoming a dad, the old dadreflexes subreddit really hit differently.

So many of them were examples of mitigated negligence.

I’ve no children of my own. My parents sucked at loving me.

I once saw my friend jump off an 8’ cliff because he thought his young daughter was going to fall. He broke his leg. She didn’t fall. He said he’d do it again.

I feel like I started three decades behind everyone else learning about love. My wife, for example. Why would she tolerate my learning process? She never answers.

I’ve so much respect for the responsibility you’ve chosen.

With humility, schools don’t teach them logic and to reason for themselves, often not even colleges. The vast majority of teachers aren’t even allowed thematically enhance their syllabus and presentation. I think it’s very important you teach logic and reason yourself. Again, I’m not a parent, don’t know you, and am no fit judge anyhow. I’m speaking of what I perceive on the average.
